Already thinking about my next travel adventure.

I know it might be a while before we are allowed to travel abroad again, but that has not stopped me from thinking about my next trip. At this moment, the trip will be a week in the United States, to visit a friend in Virginia. That, naturally, led me to look at how much flights are, and when I will have to buy the tickets.

Let's for arguments sake say, that we are allowed to travel again in August 2021, which is a possibility. That would make me able to travel in November, which is where these prices are found!

From Kastrup to Dulles, with stopover in London Heathrow. Departing Copenhagen on the 5th of November, and returning from the USA on the 12th of November. The cheapest is Basic Economy, which is the same type of ticket that my New York trip was: 2370 DKK. The regular Economy is 3210 DKK, while the most expensive ticket, the Premium Economy is 6769 DKK. Seeing as the cheapest ticket is all the way in the back of the flight, with payment to select seats and no luggage unless you pay, that ticket is ruled out. So the question then is: Do I go semi-expensive or do I just go full on luxury experience ticket? The regular Economy is $528 while the Premium Economy is $1115. Both tickets are within my price range, so I am not sure what to pick, if I am honest..

I have always wanted to travel in style, so maybe I should pick the most expensive one? Or maybe just get the semi-expensive, and then spend the remaining money on a nice pair of shoes? Or some new clothes, perhaps? I could easily find some great shoes for the remaining $587.. Or I could exchange them to dollars, and take them with me? So many options..

A trip and new shoes life doesnt get much better.
From what I've heard, clothes are cheap in the US.

American cotton is revered around the world. Their clothing design can be high quality, too.

If you're going to spend your hard earned on a pleasant experience, what is more important to you? What is going to have longevity in your psyche?

Is it the travel experience? Is it shopping? Is it wearing clothes?

Clothes last a number of years, but you can also order on the internet.

Travel and shopping are fleeting, but you have to experience them in person.

There are other experiences, too. Theatre, events, nature. It may cost to have these experiences and share them with a friend.
If you have money saved to spend, why not stay longer and travel around yourself? One week is a short time for a long flight and if there is an area you would like to see, hop on a plane and have a look.
If you can afford the admission price of business class, which might be 10x on a long haul, I find it worth it.

Being able to sleep fully reclined ensures you can hit the ground running at your destination.
There's no jostling because your seat has access to the aisle. Middle rows have effective barriers between.
If you are traveling with someone, you'll find it a little strange. You can use a private intercom.
There's very little drama in the forward cabin. And no wait to use restrooms or get cabin service.
You are treated with courtesy and respect. Attendants address you by name.
On international, you have access to the airline lounge. Some good, some meh, but all are comfortable.
You are prioritized while in the airport, a small but nice convenience.

As a for-instance, from mid-country USA to Paris is two legs. I can arrive at the airport at about 930am local. At the international airport I have two hours to burn in the lounge and board mid-afternoon. At 1000am local I'm in ground transport to the city center, fully rested. So I have no weary bleary feeling, it's simply a fresh day. I have no recurring jet lag. It's similar on the return. Essentially I have avoided a day or two of adverse effects.

It works the same going westbound, though there are more hours in travel.
