The past since you mentioned it....
A lot of bad wrong doing by the Catholic church or what ever religions of any kind... todays living by many standards appears to me to comply with the atheists thoughts.. I don't know about you but I think neither is better or worse than the other.
Free will doesn't cut it. According to hy's meme, He is in control.
So, despite free will everything could still turn out great with his control.
However, free will indicates, He is not in control.
The lady means well so I'll say nothing more.
Why does it matter so much
as long as they aren't hurting others.

CW - of course that's how it works. There's many people who switch to different beliefs later in life, sometimes several times.
It's just the way it is. If I'm wrong, then I'll just be wrong...no big deal really.

When I was a kid all the men in my family went hunting and fishing. I would go fishing every day during the summer. We ate everything we caught or killed.
Then about 25 yrs had gone by and I had a chance to go fishing, I hadn't been in a long time. First try I caught a fish, a small one about the size of my hand, I took the hook out of his lip and just admired him, he was beautiful, so may colors, then I let him go back to where he came from. I guess if I was starving I would have taken the fish home, but I've not gotten that hungry yet. Instead I bought me a 55 gal aquarium and started raising fish.

They often send me a six months supply of envelopes to put my offerings in on Sundays.
The reason i no longer attend church is that i attended a church function and the minister did not know my name, didn't even know who i was.
I took communion with that minister monthly for ten years and he prayed on my head.
Looks like they go through a ritual and don't care to know their congregation.
