the only problem with all of this is ,,,if every one is driving electric cars and trucks ,,then where is all the electric going to come from,,,wind farms ,,no wind no power,,,solar farms ,,,no sun no power ,,
nuclear power plants are being phased out ,,,,
surely the answer has to be clean burn fossil fuels ,,,
Every home & electric vehicle gets solar panels and pop-up mini-windmills.
The mini-windmills pop-up when the transmission is in park.
so you only park up in windy places ,like chicago the windy city ,and only drive on sunny days ,,,well maybe they should only have electric cars in the sahara desert as the solar will be never ending ,,,
Edison: They can use industrial-sized batteries to store electricity produced by the solar/wind generators. That would overcome your described problem.
As technology advances, so the efficiency of wind/solar generators will advance, together with better and efficient means to store the energy produced.
Interesting speculation, y'all cheers

It's been thought that battery technology was the bottleneck slowing the widespread use of electric vehicles & alternate energy sources.

I presume the battery referred to in the OP is something like this ...
... and the guy offers His speculation on how such a battery breakthrough could Totally reset the board.

The cars sound Really Cool ... grin

cowboy
But nowhere near as cool as a tuned 4.5L V8, that is how a car should sound, not a whine from an electric motor or two.grin
e - No. One isn't limited to those scenarios, as the charge can come from other sources. However, solar and/or wind chargers could extend usage / range.

m - excellent video. Thanks for sharing it. thumbs up thumbs up

r - While I fully understand where you re coming from, is it the sound itself, that is so great, or the power we have come to associate with that sound ?
If it is the sound itself, why don't we frequently listen to recordings of that sound.
I would surmise, that the sound itself is only an unnecessary byproduct of what has previously been required
to achieve the power desired.
r - I currently own a Corvette, and I assure you, that it's not the only V8 I've owned.
As I said, I understand.
Years ago I invested in a co that made flywheel energy storage devices for cars. They were way ahead of the curve and the world wasn't ready for that technology so they went under.
I used to own a Ford 5.8l ... one that made my whole body vibrate, 'wild thing, you make my heart sing' - but my then wife killed it, murdered it!
