OmGaan Met Diversiteit
About three years ago I started reading this book about diversiteit. How do we look at some one who is differnt <on the outside > ?
When my dauthers were very young we use to go swiming in the winter months, our doctor told us after our swim to sit an hour under the ultraviolet light.he told us our skin dry out in the winter months because of too little sun-light.
and les vitamine D.
So after our swim we went under the Ul,lights,
Low and behold the rest of the swimers stop swiming and started looking at us..Why ?
Before the kids came we took some time off from work for some R&R we went over to Germany we wanted to have a walk in the woods, but in the frist week it rainded so much we came back in thoes time there was police border control. I gave him my passport he looked at me and said At last I have some thing todo today..
I am still here.
Seeing the news from all over the world one ask oneslef is thimgs geting better, ??
When you see a person of colour what is the frist thought that comes into your mind.?
In the year 1979 I was in Brussels I saw this yound white boy begging on the road side,,That was an eye-opener.. In my mind set I had not seen a white person begging..
As a black why cant I like Bach Rachmaninoff or an evening at the Ballet , I think maybe a year ago there this black man in New York he was a brid wachter, In the park some one saw him waching his brids so thay call the police,.
After a bath I dont like to colthes myslef rite away in the winter so I go outside and sit in open air to cool off and dry my skin
but befor I know some one called the police,, What am I saying here Take a road that is not used too many times and who knows we might meet some where out of the box.

I didn't know until a few weeks ago that being very pale I need less exposure to the sun to produce vitamin D.
Even so, I burn so easily I cover up in the sun and am currently takng D3 supplements. I even have to pull long sleeves down over my hands, wear gloves, or use an umbrella on hot days.
I view UV sun beds as equipment other people use to have fashionably brown coloured skin, but they would cook me like a veggie sausage on a barbeque - two minutes and it's all over, bar scattering the ashes.
I too would have stopped in my tracks and asked, "Wtf are you doing, Fly...? You are already brown!"
It had never occurred to me that somene might use sun beds to top up their vitamn D.
So people stare at you and wonder why you are trying to tan and people stare at me and wonder if they need garlic and a stake to run through my heart. It is uncomfortable being stared at, but it's just a matter of a biology lesson to sort that one out.
The problem comes when people are too afraid to ask questions, or too afraid to listen to the answers.
only after a week sailing on the North Sea my head was burned..that was also an eye opener,.
It was not only at the swiming-pool where people are lookin at us.Also in the big citys as well. <the kids mother is white>Its not nice tobe looked at in this way.
Some people are afraid, some people are curious, some people are shy, some people clearly like green.
All I can do is keep smiling and saying hello.
It's not their fault any more than it is mine.
You are right, it's not pleasant being stared at, but as toddlers we stare and we mean no harm: we are just learnng.
If there is no hostility, being stared at is an opening, albeit it a small one.
One of the Grannys of my dauthers saw what had happend here in Netherland in WW 2,
She told us many storys from that time.
And not so long ago we all saw a Beer Hall Putsch it was like going back in time..
I dont want to say this but it seems like alot of people dont want diversiteit. SAD
We are only humans
They would prefer to live in a rut, rather than learn something new.
They would prefer to build walls, rather than bridges.
In general diversity and different approaches make us stronger.
Even genetically, it is known as hybrid vigor.
And this has provoked white nationalism. The attempt amongst white people to mobilise as a group like the outsiders do.
Diversity without affluence far more closely resembles a life in prison. Nothing but your skin colour to identify with although skin colour is a very weak and loose way of identifying your own kind. You're desperate.
Any why it took me a year to learn Dutch,It not only learning dutch ,these people think dfferent than I .
eg. On Sunday afternoon dinner r is Sope and bread, On the Island we have Curry goat with rice and peas, for dinner.
In West Africa all of the compound have their midday dinner togather I wanted to go fishing with them ,
No not now thay told me we will frist have a Nap then we will go fishing <even the Dog from the compound went to sleep>
Yes I know that our world have become a small place.,.
The beauty of Diversiteit
to have sope for dinner on a Sunday afternoon to have a Nap before going fishing.to listen to her or his story.Learn to climb a tree only
Last year I worked with some people from Bulgaria thay are very hard workers, thay dont speak dutch or english. .
Diversiteit = There are many people who still lives in the deep woods ,. What about then and their Know How?
Please keep on the road.
This blog is not about black and white , Its about a mind-set.
Thinking out of The Box.
Beautiful people come in all sizes, shapes, skin colours, and cultures.
Tonight I looked at one of my favorite sitcom show. It had the usual scene, a man stole a phone from the Caucasian woman and demanded $300.00 for it's return. They showed the woman, but the thief was not known only his demand was over the phone. The husband met the thief in a bad neighbourhood to buy the phone (the usual Young black man did not show up).
It was a middle age Caucasian man that stole the phone and wanted $300.00 for its return.
We all know that prejudice is taught, lets see how this new narrative will help with this societal problem.
thanks walk good..
He'll convert to Christianity and become a proper person.
