Today was the 5th time in 2 weeks, that it has snowed here in New Jersey.Enough is enough !
To make things worse, one of my neighbors has Covid-19.
I found out from his wife yesterday. We knew he wasn't feeling well,
but did not hear the diagnosis until yesterday.
A different neighbor lost a friend to Covid-19 last week.
He went to visit him in the hospital last week and his friend
died while my neighbor was en route to see him.
Now he is not feeling well, and has a persistent cough.
Yeah, I'm thinking he may have Covid-19 as well.
Hopefully, they will both recover, unlike my neighbor's friend.
They are both good people and excellent neighbors.
If either of them doesn't make it, I would miss that person.
In the meantime I have been shoveling not only my driveway & sidewalk,
but also both of theirs. The one diagnosed with Covid-19 has one double driveway
and a separate single driveway with 2 SUVs, one in the garage.
The one with the persistent cough, has a long double driveway with 4 vehicles, one
truck for his job.
You can bet next winter, I will be in Florida, if I make it through this winter.

I think the snow I shoveled today was too deep. It drifted in my back yard. I actually waited too long because the top had thawed and refroze. It was a lot of chopping and shoveling.
but the good thing about old weather is there are less diseases about making it a safer environment to live in ,,,
but after all that said ,,you are a good neighbour helping out those people with out being asked,,,but this the big but ,,if you were in the uk and you cleared all that snow ,and then some one slipped and hurt them self where you had cleared then you would have been held liable for their injuries ,,,,strange but true
e - I think it's more likely the opposite here. If you don't clear the sidewalks in front of your house,
the township can give you a citation and you are probably somewhat liable if someone slipped and
injured themself, because you didn't do your civic duty by clearing the sidewalk.
Which is kind of odd, because the sidewalk is not actually the home owner's property.
So most people just leave the snow and wait for it to melt, but then 1/2 an inch of snow brings the entire country to a holt, if 2 inches falls the end of the world is announced lol.
The UK has never understood snow and always overreacts.
r - Florida and even Georgia are similar to the UK then. I never saw so many accidents on highways, as
I did in southern Georgia several years ago when they got some snow. It appeared that many had no idea how to drive in it. In Florida one year, it actually got down to 32 F for 2 days. Shelters were full to the brim. A state of emergency was called. For 32 ??? 32 is generally a mild day in the winter in New Jersey.
H - the last time it snowed in Johannesburg was June of 2007. However, it did snow elsewhere in South Africa on August 7th, 2912. So, you are likely going to have to travel out of SA if you want to play in the snow.
T - It would have been a worse memory, if you had to shovel it. Hurray on having someone else to shovel it, except when the rent is due.
V - I believe you on this matter.
k - The same here. More snow has fallen in the last 2 weeks than usually all year.
That was a good solution regarding the money.
Thanks for the well wishes. They both have other health issues.
The one with a new terrible cough is a smoker and
the one with diagnosed Covid-19 has gall bladder valve problems.
And I do have experience of shoveling snow (and sawing firewood, among other things): it's a good work-out :)
