Dealing With Loss

Do we ever truly get over losing something or someone we thought a lot of?

I had one of my cats put down recently, she had a heart attack. I have lost a lot of cats over the years but this one is sticking to me more so. This cat was what some people would call a misfit but she was a true one person cat, me and only me she would approach. I guess it was a special bond I had with her and I still look for her sitting on top of the laptop in the bedroom.

Will need a bit more time I guess.

My condolences on the loss of your purr pal. sad flower
With lifespans much shorter than our own, we are destined to go through this remorse repeatedly,
if we keep getting pets.
Track,

Sorry to hear about your cat. I've had dogs, sometimes a cat. It's always tough when I lose one.
But, I figure, since pets don't have a longer lifespan, why not give them a nice life during the few years that they do have.

They bring us joy, comfort, as we bring them joy, comfort too. It's a nice exchange.

My condolences.
It's been a year here since my little guy of near 15 years, 3 moves indoor/outdoor, fixed at 6 months, taught me about how treat time does not change because of DST, lol. No counters never messed in the house and loved to be brushed also came home to a distinct whistle I taught him to come to. He would sit at the edge of the road to listen for traffic before crossing. If he heard a vehicle he'd come back to the grass and wait.

I still miss him everyday in the house and perhaps one day I'll ask for another one to come to my door, d up in the night as a perhaps 6 week old kitty. I wrapped him in his favorite blanket and found a beautiful resting place on the edge of a 80 foot granite rock cut overlooking a meandering creek. Track they have a way of getting into our hearts and a way of staying there forever. hug cheers
As jac said, the fact that a part of the loved one still stays with you is a precious gift that means the Loved one is still around in a small way. Once you realize its a gift, it becomes much easier as you no longer are trying to get rid of it, but you are accepting it.
