I chanced to watch 'Days of being wild' a Wang Kar wai movie from 1990 tonight

Cantonese with subtitles...
Moody, dark, unhappy joyless loveless and claustrophobic.
Maggie Cheung and Tony Leung of course I knew at once, but I couldn't quite work out Leslie Cheung, until I remembered Farewell my Concubine and then the famous suicidal plunge.
The music seems to be Los Indios Tabajaras. And the cinematography also close and tight.

The movie reminds me of a later and much better Wang Kar Wai movie - 'In the mood for love'. Also with Tony Leung and Maggie Cheung and also with similar camerawork and memorable music - cello. One of my all-time favourites for mood, camerawork and music.

Ah, the Cinematographer for both is Christopher Doyle, I think he's an Aussie. No wonder I see similarities.
