I went to look at a room today!

My sister asked me if I was still looking for a new place to rent. When I told her that I was, she told me about one of her coworkers who had an ex boyfriend, who had a room to rent out. I wrote to the guy, and an hour later I was looking at the room.

It's about the same size as the one I have now, but it's a little bit more expensive. It's nothing I can't handle, though. The room comes with a bed, a big wardrobe, a small dresser and a night stand, where I can put my phone or a lamp. The room itself is 10 square meters, and it's about 2 minutes away from shopping facilities, and about 5 minutes away from K, incidentally. But that's not the reason I am keen on the room. I want to experience other places than the one where I am now. Also, I would like to live somewhere where I aren't going to walk on egg shells, which I am doing where I am now. Sometimes it just gets too much.. Anyway..

Moving day was set at May 1st, and I will know by tomorrow if I have secured the room.

The guy renting out the place seems like a nice guy. He's a gamer like I am, so we had a little chat over what games he played. I also asked him about all the other stuff.. How fast the internet was, if I was allowed to use his plates and cutlery, or if I had to bring my own. I was welcome to use his, as long as I cleaned them after I used them. I have my own pots and pans, so the only thing I really need to use is his plates and cutlery.

He only had one rule: No loud gaming or movies in the middle of the night, which won't happen, because I usually sleep at around midnight. He was fine with that, so that's just perfect for me. If I have secured the room, the first thing I am gonna do is get some moving boxes and start packing. My current housemate is CONVINCED that I won't be able to pack everything I have here, pay the rent at the new place, secure transportation for my furniture and clean the room in 11 days from tomorrow. I know I can, because the last time I packed down a place, it took me two days. Besides, I am not going to take apart my furniture, and I also don't have much here, so it'll be easy to pack. The only thing that'll take some time, is the little room outside my room now, where things are just shoved in. I need to figure out what's mine, and what's not mine. But that won't be difficult. I roughly know which things are mine, which belongs to my current housemate, and what belongs to R.. Oh, I didn't tell you this: It's very unlikely that I will ever interact with R again, since she's unfriended me pretty much everywhere, and blocked me on IG. I suspect her boyfriend made her do it. Oh well, I have other things to worry about. I can still write to her on Messenger, though, so I might do that if I have to move. Just to let her know that she can come and collect her things here, if she wants to. At this point, I really don't care. It's just a shame that it had to end like this, since she apparently said I was her best friend. People change, I guess.

I need to have a look at how much moving boxes are. They aren't that expensive, hopefully

Hope your dreams come true.
I hope it works out well for you.
The room is mine, if I want it. I have decided to sleep on it, and I will make a decision tomorrow. I am 80% sure that I'm gonna go for it, but I need to listen to my head and gut. If I change my mind, I have until Tuesday to let him know if I am moving in or not
How close is it to the driving school, that you'll be attending ?
Which one is R? Did you make a pass at her?
Jim: It's about 20 minutes away. Where I live now, I have a 50 minute commute, so it's definitely closer to the school. Based on that, it might be wise to take the room, and save 30 minutes each way
Will your travel costs be reduced and balance out the increase in rent?
I would take it if you say it is near K.. I wish P would deliver as well as K. I'm on food here don't get side tracked.
Jac: Yes, but not by much. Converted to UK money, I am saving 46p a day. Nothing major, but it is a lot when you calculate the number of working days in 2022 (253), the total saving for me will then add up to about £58.19. I can get food for a week for that amount.

Swamie: I am taking it because it's closer to my school I am starting on in about 4 months time. Of course, it's nice to be closer to K than I am now, because then I can visit her more frequently, but it's not the primary reason why I am taking the room. I am also taking it because I feel like the guy renting out the room is more down-to-earth than my current housemate. The one where I am currently at, goes somewhat ballistic if I have forgotten to clean up a small drop on the kitchen counter, for example. Or, if he feels like I am doing things in a certain way that he doesn't appreciate, I get a mile long message, where he lays out why he's upset with me, and somehow also weaves prices of things into the message. Case in point: I once accidentally deleted a game from his Playstation, and he treated that as if I had dropped acid in the console. He loves expensive stuff, which I don't. I mean, it's nice to have a tv that's somewhat clever, and a console that can play games, but I don't really bother with getting the newest of the new stuff. That's why I feel that the new place I am renting is going to be a LOT better, both for my mental health but also my financial situation. The rent is with everything included. Internet, heat, water, power, washing and so on, whereas here, my current housemate can pump up the rent, if the power consumption has been a bit higher than the previous month. That's not gonna happen where I move to now
