I have no desire to see a Draconian sentence passed as that, to my mind, is vengeance.
The salient feature of this guilty verdict is that the act has been officially and publicly deemed unacceptable.
Justice is equality and fairness. This verdict is an important stepping stone towards justice, but there is a long way to go yet.
Maybe in 8 weeks I could handle another,
with some warning please.
I'll be Surprised if Chauvin Ever sees the inside of a prison.
“Thank God for giving us this moment,” Ross says outside the Minneapolis courthouse where a judge recently revealed Derek Chauvin’s conviction. “We needed it. This city needed it.”
“His spirit is here with you all,” she remarks of Floyd.
“It’s a moment to celebrate,” she says to the crowd.“Take tonight just to be glad that we have one day of victory. This battle is going to continue.”
“Floyd was one man,” she says. “George Floyd is a movement.”
“Put your arms around somebody today,” she adds. “Can we just all love each other for a moment?”
He could have removed his knee off of GF's neck long before he finally did.
However, the judge implied to the defense that an appeal is appropriate.
I'm guessing they will appeal it. The video will still be difficult to overcome.
1) The judge did Not sequester the jury after the Daunte Wright incident as Defense asked.
2) Jury Intimidation ...
Mad Maxie HANDED Chauvin a Get Outta Jail FREE Card.
Hence my comment above that Chauvin may be "cleared" and Never(!) serve a single Day in prison.
This case is a massive political agenda and it is to fuel division
I have seem many videos regarding corrupt cops/police...acting as political goons in a uniform...breaking the law and unlawfully arresting people...but what I would say...it's a sign of a corruption from top to bottom and I warning to all...that the systems are corrupt and not fit for purpose.
It's hard to respect those who don't follow their own laws and don't know how to speak to the general public.
In eight weeks he will be sentenced for a very long time. Right now we don't know how long.
This could have been avoided if the cops had called SWAT when they couldn't get him in the car.
I hope he gets life without the possibility of parole.
Hope he doesn't drop the soap!
2) Jury Intimidation ...
Directly and indirectly.
I think 80% of cops worldwide is guilty at some stage.
Its really not an easy job as most coach potatoes think it is.
Jmo.
He has NOT been sentenced, and appeals will follow. This is to become saga.
If he's given the Max sentence on All counts, he'll get 40 years.
I hope Chauvin will do time...blood in the streets if he is let free...
Providing the sense that the System has avenged a Wrong is vital.
Satisfying the elemental Need for vengeance is a Necessary aspect of a Judicial System if it is to supercede the older system of the Blood Feud.
It's NOT Coincidental that feuds continue to exist in remote (typically mountainous) areas where a legal system of courts is perceived to have difficulty & lack Credibility in meting out Justice.
Lou is not Incorrect in saying there'll be Blood In The Streets if it becomes widely Perceived that the Court System fails to mete out Justice to Chauvin.
Hence my comment above that Should an Appellate Court overturn the Chauvin verdict, the Decision should make it Abundantly Clearly Understood WHY it's overturned -
And Who's Responsible for it being overturned.
A balance is required to progress and we should be mindful of that when evaluating the sentence that is eventually meted out.
Too low and Chauvin's accountabilty is undermined; to high and society's and our personal responsibility to evolve is subverted.
We all need to grow up. We must not forget that.
We can't paint all law enforcement with the same brush as Chauvin..Yes there are rogue cops all over the world..I do believe a clean up is in progress in America but unfortunately so many rogue officers got away with too many murders and too many assaults..
This is at least a minuscule start to something that in years to come will bring peace to all of America no matter colour of skin...Origin of birth..Religion beliefs and so on.
