i'm shocked.
@crypt. I'm not.
Grand, i jest

It's not justice, but it is accountability.

I have no desire to see a Draconian sentence passed as that, to my mind, is vengeance.

The salient feature of this guilty verdict is that the act has been officially and publicly deemed unacceptable.

Justice is equality and fairness. This verdict is an important stepping stone towards justice, but there is a long way to go yet.
Gawd..rolling on the floor laughing
Been practicing for that bloviation all weekend.tmi
Maybe in 8 weeks I could handle another,
with some warning please.
uh oh
Mad Maxie Waters handed a mistrial appeal to Chauvin's defense on a silver platter ...
Honestly -
I'll be Surprised if Chauvin Ever sees the inside of a prison.

Courtney Ross, George Floyd's girlfriend:

“Thank God for giving us this moment,” Ross says outside the Minneapolis courthouse where a judge recently revealed Derek Chauvin’s conviction. “We needed it. This city needed it.”

“His spirit is here with you all,” she remarks of Floyd.

“It’s a moment to celebrate,” she says to the crowd.“Take tonight just to be glad that we have one day of victory. This battle is going to continue.”

“Floyd was one man,” she says. “George Floyd is a movement.”

“Put your arms around somebody today,” she adds. “Can we just all love each other for a moment?”
I'm confused again bouquet
I wasn't . Shocked
Either gone to forums or waiting for the midnight shift to change.drinking
Rose you are surely into giving opinions in rude wayslaugh 10 Hail Mary's for thatgrin
rolling on the floor laughing But I'm confused bouquet
In my opinion the verdicts were appropriate.
He could have removed his knee off of GF's neck long before he finally did.
However, the judge implied to the defense that an appeal is appropriate.
I'm guessing they will appeal it. The video will still be difficult to overcome.
You Bet it'll be appealed! Defense will ask for a mistrial based on ...

1) The judge did Not sequester the jury after the Daunte Wright incident as Defense asked.

2) Jury Intimidation ...

Mad Maxie HANDED Chauvin a Get Outta Jail FREE Card.

Hence my comment above roll eyes that Chauvin may be "cleared" and Never(!) serve a single Day in prison.
very mad

Congressmen, and Presidents should never be allowed to speak in public !!!!! rolling on the floor laughing
I'm not going to play racial politics...unlike many do and use it as an excuse to hate on white people.
This case is a massive political agenda and it is to fuel division

I have seem many videos regarding corrupt cops/police...acting as political goons in a uniform...breaking the law and unlawfully arresting people...but what I would say...it's a sign of a corruption from top to bottom and I warning to all...that the systems are corrupt and not fit for purpose.

It's hard to respect those who don't follow their own laws and don't know how to speak to the general public.
The fact that children especially a 9 year old girl witnessed the murder it's possible that it will have an aggravating fact upon his sentencing.

Thanks for posting that link S.
Frisky, he DID get the harshest sentence......Murder on all three counts.

In eight weeks he will be sentenced for a very long time. Right now we don't know how long.

This could have been avoided if the cops had called SWAT when they couldn't get him in the car.
My hope is that he will go to jail for a long time...let's hope justice will prevail...sad flower
He has NOT been sentenced, and appeals will follow. This is to become saga. Be sure there are many contributing to his defence funding. Law in America is thus. Meanwhile Julian Assange languishes in prison in the UK where laws and extradition are also ponderous.
@secret

I hope he gets life without the possibility of parole.

Hope he doesn't drop the soap!grin
@mic,
2) Jury Intimidation ...

Directly and indirectly.

I think 80% of cops worldwide is guilty at some stage.

Its really not an easy job as most coach potatoes think it is.

Jmo.
Right You Are thumbs up ... He's a Long way from headed to prison.

If he's given the Max sentence on All counts, he'll get 40 years.

cowboy
IF ... The conviction is overturned - Chauvin owes Mad Maxie his Life & should send her a case of top shelf Scotch every Christmas for Ever. ... bowing

Mic

I hope Chauvin will do time...blood in the streets if he is let free...
@Mic. He could become her personal bodyguard. laugh
Mic, has his Sturgis blog as reference for this fallout of the victim. Some chain reaction referred to the spread of more victims.... I would have voted guilty from that alone. But with the evidence as a true juror, I would see the truth of this case.
Revenge is Certainly an aspect of "Justice".

Providing the sense that the System has avenged a Wrong is vital.
Satisfying the elemental Need for vengeance is a Necessary aspect of a Judicial System if it is to supercede the older system of the Blood Feud.

It's NOT Coincidental that feuds continue to exist in remote (typically mountainous) areas where a legal system of courts is perceived to have difficulty & lack Credibility in meting out Justice.

Lou is not Incorrect in saying there'll be Blood In The Streets if it becomes widely Perceived that the Court System fails to mete out Justice to Chauvin.

Hence my comment above roll eyes that Should an Appellate Court overturn the Chauvin verdict, the Decision should make it Abundantly Clearly Understood WHY it's overturned -
And Who's Responsible for it being overturned.

cowboy
He had many complaints made against him over the years..He got caught this time and if he didn't he would still be hurting people he's suppose to be protecting
You wouldn't do, what he did, to any animal.....let alone a human being.....
Jac. That was impressively balanced. And I do agree.

handshake
Thankyou, Ozzy.

A balance is required to progress and we should be mindful of that when evaluating the sentence that is eventually meted out.

Too low and Chauvin's accountabilty is undermined; to high and society's and our personal responsibility to evolve is subverted.

We all need to grow up. We must not forget that.
Jac sit down in case you pass out..I agree with all you said except for ----->It suggests that the law enforcement as an institution is malfunctioning in this area.

We can't paint all law enforcement with the same brush as Chauvin..Yes there are rogue cops all over the world..I do believe a clean up is in progress in America but unfortunately so many rogue officers got away with too many murders and too many assaults..

This is at least a minuscule start to something that in years to come will bring peace to all of America no matter colour of skin...Origin of birth..Religion beliefs and so on.
Religious beliefs not Religion beliefs
Jac is an call em as she see type Gal... Want an honest option seek silk n satin....

All about me is chaos. I'm thinking of promoting myself to the Goddess of Entropy.

It might be fun.

Better fun than being Empress of the Universe, anyway. I abdicated because the tiaras weren't as shiny as I expected for the pos [read more]
