Coming to you LIVE from...

It's been a few years since I visited my brother in Dayton, Ohio.
The last time was for the funeral of his wife, about 4 years ago.
I was running out of excuses and got on a plane and made the trip. I got to see nieces, nephews and their kids. Today it was happy times for all of us.
We left hot humid weather in South Florida and the first day here was highs in the 80's with low humidity. Tonight it's 67 which would be considered winter in my hometown.

I'm here for the weekend and have a list of 'things to do, places to go and people to see' that includes the aircraft museum with it's iMAX theater and 3D movies.

ENJOY - be impulsive along side following your itinerary.

Fresh water fishing this morning.
If we catch something substantial, it will be BBQ fish for lunch!
Enjoy your weekend visit. thumbs up
Enjoy the cooler weather and the lower humidity...

It is always nice to spend time with family.

Have some fun too.
The corn was good and very different from the variety sold in Florida.
Dinner at an Italian restaurant Thursday night
Friday, we caught 3 small fish and returned them.
Shopping at a gourmet market and dinner at my brothers.
Saturday, lunch at a popular Chinese restaurant.
3 iMax movies in 3D
Grilled steaks at my brothers.
3 weeks ago I was planning to purchase a small model helicopter and have it shipped directly to my brothers house so I would have something to fly while I was on vacation. Several people talked me out of the plan saying I wouldn't have time to fly.

The weather was perfect every day I was in Ohio and I stopped at the local hobby store to see what they have in stock. One of the models I had in mind to buy... except they didn't have any batteries and said they could have them on Monday. Too late, I told the guy... In future it would be a good idea to have batteries in stock for the model you are selling.
His loss as I would have spent over $400 for the helicopter with a few spare batteries.

On Saturday evening, we walked around the block as my brother showed me some of the houses for sale. I think he's planning to buy one and give his current house to his son who grew up in that house. It would be a good idea to raise his 2 children there.

One of the things I hadn't seen on previous visits was a grassy common area about the size of 2 football fields end to end, literally across the street via a sidewalk between the neighbors. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!! That could have been my personal flying field.

We're already talking about another vacation before the end of the year and bringing my models in a crate (I actually have one for this) so I can fly in between meals and visiting museums and shopping.
COVID-19 awareness didn't exist for most of people I encountered in Dayton.
Very few guests in the hotel wore masks.
Less than 10% of the people in shopping malls and grocery stores wore masks.
Some restaurant workers wore masks, some didn't. That includes people preparing meals.

Mandated by the airline everyone was required to wear a mask.
I didn't see any temperature checkpoints, no CDC or vaccination requirements.

My connecting flight to Florida encountered a technical difficulty (something about a missing seat cushion) and we were on the plane waiting to takeoff... delayed for 90 minutes.
I'm guessing that "missing seat cushion" is airline speak for ....we're not telling you what is really wrong.
I thought the same thing. There were 20 planes of the same model around. I could have swiped one and be back to the runway in less than 10 minutes.

150+ passengers sitting together with no a/c sounds like a place to get infected.
My son with his family came unexpectedly last Sat to convince me to go on vacation with them - they sprung this on me Sunday morning. I didn't feel like going to key west and being couped up with them in car & motels for a whole week so I took my car and met them in Sarasota first then on to Siesta Key (one of my favorite places) then I was ready to head home. As you know are beaches are super over crowded and very few masks were worn by anyone. My son and his family always wore a mask to any of the museums or gardens. I'm not wearing a mask.

I hope you had a wonderful time and next time take your toys.
