City Of Joy or City Of Pain !!!

Today 30th July , 2021 , Kolkata , West Bengal , Morningtime

Kolkata Flooded ... And most parts of the state West Bengal is under water... Just by 24 hours of rainfall...
Not only roads that flooded , but many houses and apartments , shop and market areas , and even Railroads or Railstations are under water as well...
Not only that... In fear of electrification , electric supply has been disconnected to many areas of the city for long time...

The warning was there before... Since the beginning of this week , there was red , orange and yellow alerts issued by weather department for several parts of West Bengal including Kolkata...
It's midway of Monsoon season going on here... And added to that there is a very deep low pressure formed upon Bay Of Bengal...
Which combo results into heavy to severely heavy rainfall almost all week long...

And the worst part was yesterday , from morning to whole night , almost for 24 hours continuous severe rainfall ...

But the water drainage system and pumping stations of corporations and municipality should be prepared for that , as the alert was issued long before..

And what were/are they doing to manage the problem all this time ?? Obviously they were all too busy to do Politics !!!! Hence it's now upto us , common people , to suffer for don't know how long.... thumbs down

We , citizens of West Bengal , are so fortunate that our city became mini replica of Venice overnight !!
Thanks to our so much Responsible Corporations and Municipalities and their so much Efficient Drainage system !!!

All ready in the name of Corona restrictions , they have ruined the whole transport system... And now only 1 day rainfall completed the remaining job on behalf of them...

Today 3rd August , 2021 , Evening time , Kolkata , West Bengal ,

Rain continues ... So does suffering ....

Political game of accusation has began , as Chief Minister of West Bengal raised the theory of "Man Made (?) Flood" against DVC Authority and Central Govt....

As West Bengal is flooding , Politics is entering to the peak !!!!

DVC practically accepted the allegations and admitted that "They have no other option but to open the Lock gates because , due to negligence of maintenance and lack of dredging for a long long time , now they have no more capacity to hold this extra bit of rain water.." ...

Woww !!!! Inspiring honesty from DVC Dam Authority !!!
That they have openly admitted their limitations that , they have no other option to solve the matter except only CREATING A FLOOD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bravo !!! They deserve appreciation for their soooo much honesty !!!!!
And BTW... West Bengal Govt. Should Not Deny their Responsibility regarding the dredging issue as well...

O yes Grand...

News anchors were pretty exited cause they were showing news about our CM , and news18 is one of the fan of our CM , you know wink
What most frustrating is that , they are claiming that they can not do dredging properly and regularly Because of Shortage of money ....

Reallyyyyy !!!!! DVC Dam operates under authority of Central Govt. And Central Govt. Is spending Billions of money over their "Central Vista" project even during this pandemic...

And they are claiming Shortage of Money !!!!
They must be Joking....... thumbs down
No shortage of money but shortage of will to drop mercedes number two for the ministers nephews ex gf.

drinking
Exactly ...
Our Govt. in reality has enough money to develop the country ,
BUT
That money is reserved to spend upon political projects like "Central Vista" only , not for maintenence of a Dam...
That's why there sometimes is revolutions. The french told us how to.
lol
Seriously though, once a system of corruption is in place I don't know how to remove it.
Any new politician who steps in are told "welcome onboard... this is how we do it here"
As a rookie how on earth are you gonna change anything hmmm?
I'm sure many a newly elected politician comes in with hopes and ideals, and not long in they see that the best they can do for themselves and their family is not to try and upset the system that after all benefit them who is lucky enough to enter.

Something to ponder on.
Sooo true ... Indeed !

As I live in Kolkata , so we are not flooded yet , we are just waterlogged , that too hopefully will be temporary ...

So , comparing to other parts of Bengal I can say , we are safe , at least for now...

BTW... Rain is not really responsible for this situation ,
Our Govt. Policy Is...
did water entered in your house?

government is busy in filling its pockets. If anything is left of it, then will do something.
So this means any dates I had lined up for the weekend there should be viewed as cancelled?
Amor

As it's an apartment building situated on higher ground , so no water inside the building , not yet ..
But the road next to the building usually waterlogged even with a medium rainfall...
Ken

If you were talking about an online date , then no need to cancel it .. You can still have it online... handshake
We in the eastern Cape is going through one of the dryest periods in many years. Each individual is only allowed 30 liters of water per day. It was 50 until about a month ago but no rains, drying dams and leaking pipes being the reasons it was further reduced.
Luke

OMG !! That's really tough situation I guess !! Only 30ltr per day per person , I guess it included all drinking , cooking , cleaning and bathing !!
I can only try to imagine how it could feel when the climate is all ready too hot out there ...
Hope this time will be passed soon...
Take care of yourself ...
