NOMOPHOBIA
I think that many people have this phobia without even realizing it.Do you suffer from NOMOPHOBIA?
The term NOMOPHOBIA or NO MObile PHone PhoBIA is used to describe a psychological condition when people have a fear of being detached from mobile phone connectivity. The term NOMOPHOBIA is constructed on definitions described in the DSM-IV, it has been labelled as a “phobia for a particular/specific things”.
I doubt very much if I could fire on all cylinders without my phone.

First thing I did after getting home after my heart attack was spend the whole day at the beach out of cell phone coverage.
My family do not live near and i like my walking so mobile to keep me safe and in touch with my sons is a must. Do not think phobias though just safety.
And that's for practical reasons...
I know , there were times , when people can live without having any communication device with them 24/7 ... Forget about mobile , even land telephone was not available for many of them... Still they had not much of a problem to lead a normal daily life ...
But situation has changed... Our mobile is not just a device to make phone calls to our relatives or friends anymore... It's practically connected to all our daily function we need to execute in order to survive...
So it's not just an irrational fear (Phobia) anymore , but a practical and reasonable fear I think ... Spending even a few hours without your mobile can cost you a heavy price...
"When I go out I seldom take my phone with me."
This statement as well as the one that you say that you don't take it with you, seems like controlled or planned outings. Would you not be overly concerned if you had NO access to your phone lets say for a month or 2?
I know I would as I have very important contacts and end even mobile banking is on mine.
Personally I would do do the same. Many fools in my contact list that can knowingly cause a relapse.
Just the mere fact that you admit to having several phones tells me you would be lost without one.
You say : Me i refuse to take mobile TO BED WITH MElaugh
Is it the ring tone?
Is it the size your phone, is too small and gets lost in the blankets?
You do know that most phones have various vibrating lengths and many different tunes?
You say: May be not exactly phobia...
That sez it all. Thanks for your honesty.
While ones life is occupied with the genuine art of survival or the exact opposite of just having a full normal life, I believe those 8 years went by very fast. Im not explaining myself very clearly but I think you know what I mean.
The last time my daughter let herself into my flat to check I was still alive she told me the next time I forget to charge my phone for a week she's calling on the police to do a welfare check. I should get a door bell which flashes a light so can hear it, too. I'm responsble for a few of her grey hairs.
Tech withdrawal has been around since at least the 1990's:
If one really delves then you would discover that people stressed looong before that even.
ie. Just worrying that the reading light wont work
I know I dont have to remind you that only good 'things' come to those that wait...
And here I was thinking to myself that Rob must be getting tired of all the calls from CS beauties?
Your 'bare' story nearly came across to me as a desperado on the loose. :laugh
Good one.
