I'll be meeting Fred this weekend...

There is a destructive nature about Fred. He comes and goes rather quickly and expected to leave the place a mess. Lots of people will be watching Fred, literally tracking his whereabouts as he plans to visit South Florida come this weekend.
It's depressing to think about the whole thing, but that is the outlook for now. Currently Fred has passed over the Dominican Republic, Haiti and is kissing the eastern point of Cuba.

I've got the path of Fred right here:

If you haven't guessed by now, Fred is a storm.

Actually, at first, I was thinking Fred might be a new baby in the family. dunno

I remember a similar map, except it had a black Sharpie leg drawn to include LA. laugh

You & Fay stay safe. It look like it will affect both your areas. peace
I'm expecting rain and maybe 20-30mph wind gusts Saturday and Sunday.
Knowing the weekend wouldn't be good for flying, I went to the field today and got in 4 helicopter flights and will try the same Thursday and Friday.
Trading the time off I could be in the office Saturday.
Fay... batten down the hatches!
It's going to skirt the west coast of Florida with tropical storm winds, probably less than 50mph gusts.
As expected the path slowed and drifted more west headed to the panhandle.
Fred is directly over Havana tonight with a curve away from Florida and into the Gulf of Mexico. You folks in Alabama get ready for lots of rain by Monday.

Some outer bands of rain came through here about 7pm. An upper level of clouds were moving quickly and the thunder sounded very different than a normal storm. More like cracking than rumble.
Well, I'm glad it at least mostly missed FL.
Fred took a big detour and isn't a threat to the East coast of Florida.
I'm charging batteries and heading to the flying field!
Last report is Fred has dissipated and though the outer rain bands are active the storm intensity had dropped.

We've got Grace coming up next week!
I saw the mention about Grace.
Hopefully you guys will escape it, by the grace of mother nature.
I thought the weather service made a mistake on Fred's disappearance as radar showed several bands of rains a few hundred miles out of the center of the storm as it passed over Cuba.

I was right. By morning, Fred was reactivated and headed toward Alabama.

Hardly any rain and when I get some it lasts maybe 10 mins. Typically the news scares the heck out of me then being wrong so much doesn't help prepare.
