Al Jazeera news is reporting the Taliban is confiscating firearms from business guards and residents, going door to door looking for weapons. Residents are being told you have no more need for weapons, we will decide who needs to be shot.
There is also video footage there of mobs of people rushing military jets as they taxi to take off, grabbing hold and clinging on as best they can as the jets take off and climb only to drop off from hundreds or thousands of feet up. It looks a great deal like the footage we saw from Saigon in 1975 when Vietnamese Embassy workers tried to hang on to helicopter skids or the wheel struts of cargo jets taking off only to plummet downward and die a few moments later. My guess is once again, like Ambassodor Polk before him, President Biden wrongfully imagined a Decent Interval would happen.

Dictators have said that the death of one man is a tragedy, but the murder of a million is a statistic.
We don't teach these facts to our children, and have failed to do so for generations. And those who fail to learn the lessons of history are condemned to repeat it.
We are heading into a very dark time, if history is any teacher.
