Possible apprenticeship secured!

In order for me to progress from the basic course to the main course of the truck driver education, I need to get a driving license for a regular car. In order to qualify for that, I need an apprenticeship with a trucking company.

I sent a few emails today to companies, that offer apprenticeships. I explained, that I have recently begun the truck driving education, or the road freight transport education, to be exact, and I need an apprenticeship by January 21st 2022, or earlier if possible. One got back to me, saying I was welcome to pop by on Friday afternoon, so that's what I am going to do.

However - we are going bowling on Friday. I will talk to a teacher tomorrow, and hear if I can be excused for the day, since all we have to do is bowl. I would rather go to that company and talk to them, than go bowling. I am fairly confident that I can be allowed to go to the company and have a word with them.

All in all, things are hopefully looking up

I thought getting the car license would be the first step Phil, here in NZ it takes about a year and a half to get a full car license;; the time it takes to get the license can be shorted by taking driving courses, here you have to have a full car license before you can even try to get a truck license..
Hello Butcher559. The education is based in two parts: A basic course, where you learn the basics: to drive a forklift, learn about various techniques to secure loads to trucks, fire and rescue and at the end, a category B driving license. In order to qualify for the driving license, you need a place to do an apprenticeship, and in order to be as attractive to a possible apprenticeship location, you need to at least have a basic understanding about trucks, how they operate and how to load it.

The school is not allowed to give us a driving license without having passed the basic course. It's mandated by the government. I could go out and get a driving license out of my own pocket, but I cannot afford that, and if the school pays for one, then why not go that way :)
Hey Phil, the car license here is done with a learner, restricted and then a full license;; its a 6 month period on each learner and restricted licenses before you sit the full license, and it costs about $100 for each license so its pretty expensive here..

The truck license is similar with learner, restricted and full licenses but i'm picking it will be more expensive than a car, i got my licenses when i worked for an earthworks company;; most expensive part is getting experience on the machines..
