Little Darlin

Surely everybody is familiar with the song "Little Darlin" by the Diamonds. It was a colossal hit for them in the mid 50's. Around the time this song was being played to death I was still living in the Yorkville neighborhood of Manhattan. I happened to be surfing the AM band looking for something a little less popular and more earthy to listen to. My quest took me to the higher frequencies where most of the black music fans were hanging out and one night "Little Darlin" came on but it wasn't the one by the Diamonds, it was the Original by a group called the "Gladiolas". At first it sounded kind of like a bunch of teenagers singing on the street but after a minute or so I was totally hooked on this version. I later learned that Maurice Williams of "The Zodiacs" wrote this song and was the lead singer on this release.

Surely not.... however it does sound very familiar to another song I know, which at the moment won't come to mind, which thanks to you.... will be like a broken record now, going round in my mind for the rest of the night.

Don't you just hate that, when it happens doh
Is it the Lion King?
Well before my time, and was never an area of musical interest.
I have an older friend, who used to be a baseball coach, who is very much into
do wop music. He probably knows of them. dunno

Regardless, I hope the Diamonds paid the original artist well for the usage of
his song.
Good enough for you Ged, nothing like being in company when frustrated giggle lol

But no its not the lion king.....
its on the tip of my tongue but I just can't get it out frustrated
Here's another rare gem from none other than Elvis. I doubt there's anybody who's never heard this great recording but if you're hearing this for the first time you're in for a treat. I'm not a big Elvis fan but I adore this song and have since it first came out in 1956.

tip hat Witch - Thanks for the Heads Up cheers

Another gem from the long forgotten past. This song was a huge hit back in the early 50's. It was kind of a comedy song that was loved by everybody, young & old.
Mickey Katz actually made a knock off comedy rel of this song.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Bob Dylan when few people even knew his name.
