The Johari Window - a Conceptual Tool for Self Awareness

The Western educational system has -- and intentionally so -- failed the population. Instead of creating a population ready to think, ponder and reflect, they've created generations of shallow, non-thinking "emoters" in the vein of 1984, BRAVE NEW WORLD and METROPOLIS.

Show of hands, how many of you were taught of the Johari Window in your educational years? I'd venture to guess, not many. The Left made a concerted effort to change any society they'd controlled or targeted so that deep thinking, morals and religion were eliminated and slavish devotion to Big Brother substituted in their place.

See: GRAMSCI: LONG MARCH THROUGH THE INSTITUTIONS
required a "long march through the culture" to slowly discredit and undermine its institutions, values, and foundations. This was a brilliantly destructive idea. Eventually, the society would fall apart, opening the way to totalitarian socialism to rescue the mess. Thus the nihilistic flavor of the Western Left which is always seemingly-incomprehensively mingled with extreme Statism.

This was reflected in the Communist "How To" Manual for Destroying Decent Society, called: "Psycho-Politics."

The work is extensive and comprehensive, but a revealing passage is this:

"We have battled in America since the century's turn to bring to nothing...all Christian influences and we are succeeding. You must work until officials of city, county, and state will not think twice before they pounce upon religious groups as public enemies. (there must) be a...foaming hatred of religion...a belief that Christian practice is vicious, bad, insanity causing, publicly hated and intolerable."

Now consider the Johari Window: "The Johari window is a technique that helps people better understand their relationship with themselves and others. It was created by psychologists Joseph Luft (1916–2014) and Harrington Ingham (1916–1995) in 1955."

What do you think of yourself?
What do others think you think of yourself?
What do you think others think of you?

And, of course, there are your psychological blind spots.

If you step outside yourself and consider whether what you believe in is objectively supported, or not?

How do you react to new or conflicting information?

Have you considered the track record of the proponents of the information coming in?

Have you considered the track record of the belief system you adhere to?

Leftists, by and large, have abandoned all introspection and objective analysis of the world around them. Have they considered that their belief system (if it can be called that) has brought the totalitarian boot down on any society it has ever taken root in, and that it has led to the deaths of hundreds of millions? As Former KGB Defector Lev Bezmanov has observed, there are those in the West whose indoctrination is complete and permanent. Their minds, says Bezmanov, are contaminated. The Soviets called such people "Useful Idiots." Meaning, useful to the Communist enemy.

it's impossible to unbraid the trunk of a tree
The Johari Window is a well-known technique in personal development work. The ‘not known to self’ window, the blind spots, are the areas that offer the potential for growth and greater self awareness when people are willing to look within. But, there can often be a great reluctance to do this and face up to ones shortcomings, which leads to entrenched patterns of thinking. Sometimes, people choose to use defence mechanisms, such as projection, and accuse others of the very things they’re not willing to acknowledge in themselves.

What Yuri Bezmanov calls ‘useful idiots’ are people who are unwittingly complicit in supporting a system that is ultimately not for their benefit and may even completely disenfranchise them. It’s like turkeys voting for Christmas. Unfortunately, there seems to be quite a lot of that going on at the present time.
personally speaking, a formidable adversary can only improve performance. some people thrive on challenges.
Oh yes. That's very different though.

Steal Sharpens Steel.

Dog mess doesn't do anything for steel.
dog mess is on a different level
Hope springs eternal that the scales fall from Leftists' eyes and they start seeing the world about them clearly, and without the distorting Leftist lenses.

It did for David Horowitz, an admitted "red diaper baby" meaning that his parents were rabid Leftists and he was weaned on DAS KAPITAL.

But this won't happen, absent some introspective thought on their part.

More's the pity.
People can be very foolish but it's today's fast-food culture of instant gratification you should be angry with.

That and all the more time we spend at work which kinda relates to the reason that free time is automated in the way that is. Automated free time after a working day that is itself automated and procedural, a doctor or an engineer is today more of a technician sticking religiously to the script. More of a bot than a brain.
Technology is slowly taking away what the mind has (needs) to think. Too many current ways of societal dumb down.
