Problem children of God

I don’t know if this is a case of cause and effect, or one of mere correlation or even coincidence, but I have noticed that the people here with the most fervent religious views, the ones who take it too far, are also among the most unpleasant, vindictive and malicious people here. Is their extreme religiosity a screen, behind which they can hide their obnoxious characters, I wonder. hmmm

Hide it from themselves as much as from others?

@op here in Australia, where we are increasingly atheistic and I rarely if ever meet religious resistance. America is clearly and statistically another kettle of fish. On the blogs aggressive objection is encountered to my total atheism. But that seems to be a feature of America. Personally I have no objections to superstitious beliefs, believe what you will!
Mr Harbottle have you noticed too that applies to every post.confused or most, some people are fanatical on one subject.

We do not get so many religious blogs these days but plenty about politics covid etc.

I suppose its whats foremost in the mind of the writer.

I have always found anyone in any church these days are helpful and do more for the community than many others in these bad times. AND you don,t get the third degree as to if you believe or not.

@chesney but you have the queen and royalty
While I respect anyone's faith or belief, I have observed that those that continuously proclaim they are Christian and who use religion within an unrelated discussion, are usually the most Un-Christain people around.
Hey Harbs, the way religious belief should be practiced is with in thy own closet.. behind closed doors, out of the public eye and ear.. well this is what the prophet Jesus reckons, i guess its to stop time wasting with endless preaching;; if a person is going to follow another it will be because that person see's the success and harmony of the other persons life, not because of what they say..
Hi, Butcher. wave
You see, by and large; people do not like to bear the negative consequences of their own actions. This is most pronounced in overly religious people; who think (mistakenly) that which ever God they have invented, and whatever credo, they follow, will somehow "save" them. That is to say, that some Man-made God (there are many); will somehow (magically) renew the Earth, with unlimited fecundity; after two millenia of Christianity has done it's best to destroy it. A supreme folly, and a ridiculous irony, if ever there was one ....
Ctd.... that's right; the overly religious, really like the idea of "outsourcing" their problems to a "God" in this way, they feel that they can escape the consequence of their own actions (and also be forgiven for them), and then, in addition to this, even be bestowed with "eternal life" (whatever that is). There is something truly pathetic, about all of this....in fact it is rather similar to the child, who says "it's not my fault, someone else did it!"
Yes, EX, now that you mention it, I believe I have noticed that some people are fanatical on one subject. hmmm
