It's been a while..

Hello. I'm still here. I am just very busy with school. Since my last blog, I have been doing work experience, doing some forklift stuff and some first aid stuff. There have been ups and downs. Let's start with the downs, shall we?

The place I went for work experience in was fantastic. The days were long, and the job was super exciting. I got to meet so many new people, got to handle a lot of different types of freight and learn a bit about how a life as a trucker is. I had a great week, and it really cemented my desire to become a trucker, and I also told the dispatcher, that I really wanted to be their new apprentice. I was told they would discuss it, and then get back to me.

After my work experience, I jumped into forklift certification. We were divided into two teams, a day and evening team, and we took turns driving and studying. I had a number of tests to do, and I was pretty good at all of them. The entire course lasted 7 work days, which meant from Monday to Friday, and then the following Monday and Tuesday as well. The Tuesday was meant for two tests: theory and driving. I passed the theory test, with three mistakes, and I passed the driving test with one issue, which was the forks being too low on one of the forklifts. During the first week, I hadn't heard from the company I did work experience for, so I emailed them to ask them, if they were any closer to giving me an answer. I got a reply back, saying that they were going to pass on me. That's it. No reason as to why. Just a no.

I had told myself, that if it was a no, then it wouldn't be a big of a deal, since I still have a long time to secure an apprenticeship somewhere. I have emailed a lot of companies, and now I'm just waiting for a reply from one of them.

That leaves the first aid. How did it go? Well.. It was a bit of a mess. Let me explain!

We have a person in the class, who is hard of hearing, so he needs an interpreter. We were scheduled to have our first aid certification test done yesterday, and I was a bit nervous going into it. When I arrived yesterday morning, we were told that one of the interpreters had been infected with covid, so the practical first aid test was put on hold. We were all told to call the infection detection hotline to say, that we had been in the same room as an infected, and to ask for their recommendations. I am fully vaccinated, and I wasn't close to the infected, so the person on the other end told me, that I didn't have to do anything, other than take a PCR test today. I am currently waiting for the result, but I am quite confident that it's going to be negative. That meant, that today was a bit weird. Usually we are 27 people in my class, but the school had told that all non-vaccinated students had to stay home, until they presented two negative covid tests. What effect did it have? Only 8 people showed up today. 8 out of 27.. I wonder how tomorrow's going to be.

I think that's pretty much all there is to update on, for the moment. I am still by myself, and I am still looking for the perfect someone for me.

I'll find her one day
