I work at what I’ve learned I’m good at and what I enjoy doing. I’ve chosen work that has an enduring quality - it’s something I can do for as long as I am able, can do when I want, and from anywhere.wine
I love being retired.i can do what I want and have the time to do it.dancing
Hey Blue
MERRY Christmas and Happy New year wine
Retirement stage gives you chances to do what thing you haven't done before so yes
good choice cheers teddybear
Hi Ysa,

Happy New Year!

I try to retire and do nothing but vegetate, but the women just don't leave me alone. Sheesh! doh

(Yeah, Right!) laugh

okay, just kidding. maybe.
I think life always needs more work and less play.. I would slow down in life when you need a break. I took the day light hours for years and traded to nights and time went faster. So I'm slowed down It did go by faster changing day to night..

Hey Ysa, i go in and out of retirement all the time;;; i go to work for a while then kick back for a spell and spend some money, then a new job comes around..
I just wing my way through life and let things unfold how they will, it works for me and is less stressful than a regular 9 to 5 job..
This way i can react in accordance with what ever govt/covid throw my way...
Hola Butch
How's Christmas with you? Hope you had fun.
That I agree with you
If it's flexible in your own time and space wave why not.. let's keep the fire burningwine Have a marvelous new year cheers
I retired when the radio station shut down. Had no interest in working anymore so gave it up at 58. Enough to do on the farm. Now I remember jobs I had that I thought might be fun to do again. But, they are not the same as25-50 years ago.
And then I have to go into town and stores. See how customers act. Since it is against the law to kill customers, better I stay retired.laugh doh
Then think of needing to get up at a set time, follow a routine, drive, deal with co-workers and all that. Again, better retired.
I go to sleep when I wish, rise when I wish, dress how I wish and do what I wish, when I wish. The only joke is when one is retired one gets all that stuff caught up or done. Yeah, right. Pa Kettle..gotta do that one of these days. No idea how so much got done when working. Except that when you have un-limited time to do stuff..you don't.roll eyes It will Wait. Do it tomorrow.yawn Look at the clock..only quarter after 1, plenty of time today. Look at clock...6pm. confused Where did the day go?
Productivity is best when time is limited.
Worked all my life and took retirement when I moved here, but did some voluntary work that led to a little job after 2 years of that I left before I throttled the little darlings and with great respect for teachers. Retirement is not what I thought it would be, let's say its dam hard work but yes I can do what I want when I want and that I love

With that kind of job you had was great and needs you for sure being on time to work, prepare your peace of the day etc.

I guess I can relate on that situation wherein
You didn't expect things after retirement maybe you got used to do those routines when you had your regular work @tines we tend to feel uneasy because maybe we are adjusting on the present situation. Anyhow
having that volunteer work would be funthumbs up handshake teddybear Have a prosperous New Year cheers
I doubt I will ever fully retire wine
I was very married to my job and loved working. I loved not being on a budget and I loved my work family and boss. I bought my retirement home a few years before I could move the 100 miles to live in it, I also got my car paid off then I retired and moved.

At first I was lost without the routine I had adheared too for oh so long, you know the get up and go to work 5/7, same time every day, same routine both pretty much ingrained in me.

I saw this on FB - but my friends and I agree this is how I feel now that I'm retired.
I'm a Seenager - Senior Teenager

I have everything that I ever wanted
as a teenager, only 60 years later.
I don't have to go to school or work.
I get an allowance every month.
I have my own pad.
I don't have a curfew.
I have a driver's license and my own car.
I have ID that gets me into
bars and the whiskey store.
The people I hang around with are not
afraid of getting pregnant.
And I don't have acne.
LIFE IS GOOD
Hello Ysa,

I enjoy staying active....but, being retired and traveling would not be a bad alternative to working.

wave
I try not to work much, but I find that whenever I goof up and my cash reserves drop below a quarter million dollars my comfort level goes back up as soon as I return to working and refill the bank account. I find I can usually make a quarter million last me 5 to 10 years, but it often takes at least 6 months to earn that much, so every 5 to 10 years I will work for a few months, then good off some more.
I haven't worked for money since 2007. Plenty of other fun things to do in life. beer
