What Is that Cry For...?

Simple question but lot of reasons why we crydunno
Some people cry while reading a sad book or watching videos of baby animals. Others cry only at funerals. And for certain people, the mere hint of anything that arouses emotions can cause tears to flow.

If you’ve ever had tears well up in a meeting or wept out loud in a movie theatre, you may have wondered if it’s normal. Is there such a thing as crying too often or too much?
dunno wine

How about you? sigh wine

There are a lot of reasons, besides having an immediate emotional response, why you may cry more than normal. Tearfulness is frequently associated with depression and anxiety. People often experience the two conditions at the same time. Certain neurological conditions can also make you cry or laugh uncontrollably.wine teddybear

When you cry emotional tears, you relieve emotional distress and physical pain. Crying can be a way to self soothe

Good morning Yas hug

I feel I cry at appropriate times like sadness for others when I hear or read sad stories about children & young woman who never had a chance because their lives were taken from them & things like that.

i cry when it comes to family and friends battling..Happy tears will well up when people go out of their way for me with kindness & things like that
Agree Mercthumbs up
My nature is sensitive as my family and friends described me. I can easily cry if it really hurts me maybe it's just my nature dunno
But after crying it out it soothed me big time wine
I have indeed cried on two occasions discarded by a love - my first love back in 1964, and another 1994 30 years later.
At movies I am hopelessly easy to be manipulated by the directors and my childrens' mother always used to watch my eyes at the movies as some emotional scene took place.
I think , it's mostly an automatic stress relief mechanism designed by our physical anatomy .. We cry for various reason , like from physical pain to psychological reaction..

Sometimes it's not just about pain but some kind of stimulants which our brain tries to signal .. Like listening a beautiful music can bring tears too..

Just like Adrenaline or Dopamine , there are some hormonal chemistry behind our tears too..

I hope in future there will be more researches about this .. wine

Oh !! And me like to not restrict myself whether it's about smile or cry !! giggle
Very interesting. Actually, I'm not sure why we cry or laugh. Perhaps it's a form of primitive, spontaneous communication that was around before humans evolved speech and is nowadays vestigial?
*..primitive form of spontaneous..

Incredibly hard to type and keep track of what one is typing on a phone, isn't it?

Maybe areas of the brain are activated when we see someone reacting emotionally as when we are emotionally aroused," We also may just be more emotionally empathetic to the feelings of others, which can result in more crying.
dunno handshake wave
Well good for you. Enjoy. wine
Hi ysabeljhen,

The 8 ball part of the tournament....well...I think my partner did not practice as well as I did. But...it was great fun and I enjoyed everything. It was great catching up with many old friends....and making new ones. Not to mention, my pool game improved dramatically. thumbs up

This short video...

The stretched out hand from the grandfather at the end and the warm hugging
brought a tear to my eye gotta say
Tears are kinda funny for me. When I get physically hurt/injured....I never cry...I get angry, but I don't cry laugh

When someone I love passes......I don't cry....Only because it doesn't feel real. I feel sad because I miss them already....but no tears

However....

If someone I care about says something to hurt me....I cry....but...if it was someone I wasn't close to, there would be nothing they could say that would bring me to tears

....and when I'm very angry, I have tears of frustration before I blow....then once I do, tears are gone and red is all I see

I hate the tears. I'm not one to show weakness/vulnerability....but, it is what it is

dunno wave

Crying is for the most part healthy.

Suppressing crying can lead to dangerous physical ailments.

Having said that, crying can express a number of emotions. The more oppressed women are in a society, the more they express their anger with tears. We may think we're sad, but society has trained us to be out of touch with our true feelings.

Nobody wants oppressed people to get angry in case they rebel.
I cry at weddings, funerals, Christmas movies, Saturday movies, Disney, when people are kind, but I've only ever cried over one man, my husband when he died.
I cry when my car runs out of gas and with the price these days, many say I'm a regular cry baby...
I know a guy that cried when he ran out of beer. doh

One day I was slicing onions and suddenly for no reason I started getting watery eyes. I don't know why. Hmm. dunno
Don't cry with onions, I wear swim goggles rolling on the floor laughing
Emmy,

I'll have to try that. I have the swim goggles. I just don't have the snorkel and foot fins. But as soon as I get these additional parts, I'll have to try slicing onions again.

Thanks for that helpful advice. pointing
