The year of the Tiger...

This Tuesday, February 1st, 2022 marks the Chinese New Year.

Depending on who you ask, it has different pronunciations and interpretations.

"Happy Chinese New Year" in Mandarin is: xin nian (new year) kuai le (happy)
Pronounced shin nee-an kwai le.
The Cantonese version is sun nin fai lok- pronounced san knee fy lock.

Many people associate the Cantonese phrase Gong hei fat choy as happy new year, but it's actually a wish for prosperity to the person you say it to.
In Mandarin Chinese, it’s Gong xi fa cai (pronounced gong she fa tsai).

Either way, millions of Chinese will be up in the middle of the night cleaning house and preparing for a celebration and to some that lasts for a week!

There are 12 Chinese zodiac signs and the Tiger is known as the king of all beasts in China and the zodiac sign for Tiger is a symbol of strength, exorcising evils, and braveness. Many Chinese kids will be wearing hats or shoes with a tiger image for good luck.
2022 is a year of the Water Tiger. It starts from February 1st, 2022, and ends on January 21st, 2023. A Water Tiger year occurs every 60 years.

So kung, mung, sung, young or however you say it... Happy Chinese New Year!

China puts out an unbelievable amount of misinformation, hundreds and thousands of website proposing some how Tibet is part of China.
Tibet is occupied by China, China attacked in 1952 and again in 1962. It (China) claims Tibet has always been part of China is utter rubbish. Tibet had never been part of China, Mongolia occupied both China and Tibet yes, but Tibet was never part of China. Saying Tibet is part of China because Mongolia occupied both China implies Hungary and Israel were also part of China. Which of course is utter rubbish, likewise the Chinese claim that Tibet is part of China is false, as Mongolia occupied them to so you can see its a lie.

Please be aware there are thousands of website masquerading as offering Tibetan information when they are not.
Anyone wanting trusted source for information could check out Foundation for Preservation of Mahayana Tradition website,
and or: Dalai Lama site
Karmapa Lama is the head of the Karma Kagyu, the largest sub-school of the Kagyu, itself one of the four major schools of Tibetan Buddhism. Karmapa was Tibet's first consciously incarnating lama. The historical seat of the Karmapas is Tsurphu Monastery in the Tolung valley of Tibet. Thaye Dorje, His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa, is the spiritual head of the Karma Kagyu lineage, a Buddhist school in Tibet that is around 900 years old. site address:
Be aware there is a person on this site who is known to most of you. He studies other teachings not the teachings of His Holiness Dalai Lama or His Holiness Karmapa Lama schools of thought.

Tibetan New Year dates can be similar to there next door neighbor China, but different.
Tibetan New Year "Losar " 2022 will begin on Thursday, 3 March and ends on Saturday, 5 March
Losar The Tibetan New Year is celebrated mostly in India, Nepal, Tibet, Sikkim, and Bhutan. It will be celebrated between 03 March 2022.
Losar is the Tibetan New Year. Traditionally, Tibetans mark Losar by joining together to acknowledge the passing of any negative karma in the previous year, and to set a strong positive motivation for the year ahead. It’s also a social time of appreciating the strong karmic bonds that connect us with those around us and celebrating the opportunities we have to create positive potential together. Traditionally Tibetans create auspiciousness at this time by changing their old prayer flags for new and making offerings to invite generosity and abundance into their lives in the year ahead.
I hope chatillio your happy to accept this explanation because the Tibetan lunar calendar, is a lunisolar calendar, that is, the Tibetan year is composed of either 12 or 13 lunar months, each beginning and ending with a new moon. A thirteenth month is added every two or three years, so that an average Tibetan year is equal to the solar year.
and is not Chinese
Here tonight is indeed 'Zhongguo chuxì' Chinese new year's eve. Year of the tiger. Usual Sydney celebrations as perhaps the largest outside China are as last year suspended, and I will just have take-away.
Curious to have a Tibet outburst, however.
