True alien technology

would be a scary thing to encounter. It would just be somehow wrong. Maybe it has a spatial fold in the space it occupies so the more you look at it, the more your eyes and your head hurt from trying to make sense of what you aren't seeing.
Maybe it looks like a 35 gallon fuel drum, but with an oval hole in the side. Maybe the body looks like it is made out of cast iron, but not quite. Maybe it just sits there in the corner of the room. In the oval opening you can maybe see some gears laying strangely....But are they gears or something that just looks like gears, laying diagonally against nothing. No that's not it. You liik harder and maybe the hairs on the back of your neck begin to stand up because you just realized one of the cast gear things inside the object is larger than the object, a lot larger and inside the opening you realize that although the can in front of you is only 3 feet tall you can see at least 100 feet down inside it and there is no back to the inside of the can, just miles of gear things inside the small can.
Alien technology would be like that.
Picture an old time Roman or Macedonian soldier hearing a weird noise in the forest of town. Upon investigating he observers what is to us a fairly familiar object, but is to him the most terrifying thing he has ever seen or imagined. A running chain saw bouncing around on the forest floor, all plastic and metal growling loudly with a spinning chain powered by nothing remotely understandable biting at the forest floor and whatever it hits.
Would any sane person remain there and perhaps pick it up? Or would they run to tell others at once, or would they simply flee for their lives before more of the monsters come?

Looking at something and DISCUSSING it with other people and compare a number of points of VIEW IN THE FACTS IS ACTUAL SCIENCE!...

Keeping secrets like america china japan italy so on AIN'T SCIENCE!.

Is That Simple!

Whether u understand it or not...

cheers cheers cheers cheers cheers
That's a familiar sight? wow I'd flee for my life even though I knew what it was, I've heard of chainsaw massacres rolling on the floor laughing

I don't understand a lot of advanced technology as it is but can accept it because someone human knows how to use it. Even a giant JCB looks scary plucking at things with a giant claw, but you can see a human at the controls. No cab, or a purple blob with tentacles and antenna - instant meltdown.
Well to a Roman or Macedonian (or any tribe you want to name from that Bronze Age era) yes, the lack of a human to associate with the thing (chainsaw) noisily running and tearing up dirt and bouncing up and down would add to the terror and strangeness. At least with a human you can label them a witch, scream sorcery and react as per the local culture. But with no human just a 'live' weird thing bouncing along.., run Forrest run. Indeed even laying in the middle of the trail off a chainsaw in that era of time would be completely wrong in the eyes of whoever viewed it. Everything about it's shape, the materials it is made of, it's unknown purpose, etc would be completely wrong and outside of the experience or ken of someone from the Bronze Age.

So too would it probably be for any of us humans who actually encounter a piece of Alien technology.

Maybe it would be and maybe it would be more familiar than generally imagined.
If you have seen one meat sack in fatigues and a flight suit I bet they look more and more alike all the time.
Good read Ken...opens the mind a bit to potentials. thumbs up wave
We would only be able to speculate about the small cast iron drum in the corner of the room with thousands of miles pf gears visible inside and what it's purpose is.(are those stars on the back side of the can and at the bottom and are they moving?).
The same would be true of a Macedonian suddenly encountering a chain saw left running on a forest floor. When they finally stopped running 3 towns away to tell the local Priest at the temple of Zeus what had been seen even his or her language would have problems describing a bouncing chainsaw on the forest floor.

Does a word or phrase for toothed chain even exist in ancient Greek? Ooo we are a lot smarter now, we can string words like dimensional fold together. But do we yet understand folds in reality? How would you describe an 11 sided pyramid? Technology not understood is both scary and dangerous.
more you look at it, the more your eyes and your head hurt from trying to m8ake sense of what you aren't seeing.

My head hurts just reading all this.

Howzit Kenlaugh
cheers
Once they explain the 'fine structure constant' to you (1/137), everything will stop hurting and become clear. professor
Hands up how many have been probed and out of those how many enjoyed the experience

And can you recommend the best time and place for a potential probing ??
Asking for a friend

That question was bothering me too...laugh
