Tattoos and piercings

Why is it that people many years ago tried to change their body appearance by putting rings around their neck and adding another and another until gradually the neck became elongated over years. Also binding a baby's head until it became larger. Stretching ears and inserting objects. Stretching lips to the extreme. Images of god's found tattooed on mummies.
It would appear that they had experienced some contact with beings that left a great impression on them or their ancestors and as a result tried to emulate their appearance.
These beings were no doubt perceived as god's because of the advanced technology they brought with them, but they were just flesh and blood space travellers who came here for either raw materials, such as gold, or to have an influence on the primitive people they encountered.
Tattoos and piercings today are probably a remnant in the unconscious mind and why so many people inflict this decoration on themselves.
I can think of no other attractive reason. Can you?

If one has these things, how can they expect someone else to respect it? They probably won't, even if they say they will.
doh doh oh dear me gents sometimes if you have art on the wall, its to please i think. If one has body art it could be to please the person and no-one else or what are clothes if not to decorate oneself so be the same with body art.

Many moons ago a tribe used rings around ladies neck, the more rings the more beauty and so on..Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

So is a mind set grin
Think of it his way: then you know who to avoid. That's a plus init.

There must be some deeper reason for it yes, a psychological one
to do with your relation to the world that alters when painted up and somehow the "user"
prefer this in their lives. I suppose a professional can tell you better than me
as I'm only speculating here.

Alians or gods, dunn think so.

* that was supposed to be "or a" not orca. Although a Orca would be bad on the chest too.
Hats are worn to protect person from the sun etc. A crash helmet is used to protect the scalp from crashing. I've not seen anyone wearing helmet on a sunny day for any other reason, plus they are heavy and they are compulsory when riding. Hats can be removed easily, they don't require surgery, unlike tattoos. Most intelligent people on sunny days should wear protection when out. If you don't your stupid.
I see your a fan ............thumbs up

Here you are, take your pic

Tattoos are expression of art but it doesn't turn me on dunno wine
Had a piercing on my tongue in my 20's after a while took it off coz it was bothering..

The tattooist asked if he could take pictures of his art for the Newcastle tatoo convention Tattooist all over the world came to this. I said yes but not of my face. So plenty all around the world have seen my shoulder laugh laugh
I can hardly see the art in tattoos...or even less in piercing...
Expression of personality...when there's no personality...
I see it more as looking for an attention when nothing else works...
I am aware some get tattoos to "celebrate" a memory or to honour their loved ones by tattooing their names and birthdays which I personally find ridiculous...
I do remove tattoos almost every day, I sometimes can not believe the stupidity that goes into some of them...
But at the end of the day, your body your choice!
@ exred

I never had you figured for a wild child..

Hi Dani bouquet

But, it didn't stop them getting stolen for some body's entertainment.

I'll take this one down soon.
People do things to please themselves..Anyone who does things to please & worry about what others think are leading a very sad life

I don't have tattoo's..I don't like them in saying that I have seen gorgeous woman with gorgeous art on there bodies same as I have seen disgusting tattoo;

Thing is I will say to myself I like that art work..Or I will say to myself yikes that is horrible.

One thing I don't do is look down at those individuals because of their personal choice

i would not have had a go at crown but his sentiments angered me mmmmm
the say ignorance is bliss dont they.
Ironically, you are a bit incorrect. Those that do the rings, don't stretch the neck, they push down the shoulders. It was kind of a morbid study, but they speculated that was the case.

Yes, I dislike body modification, and don't count it as art. Art is if it can be undone. Leastwise, that's the way I think. Some very pretty women have ruined their looks. But, it is their body. My step-daughter did the same thing. Her choice.
Yes, it's personal choice whether you have a tattoo or not, but it reflects the personality of the individual and lack of taste. It's a great warning sign. They possibly have reptilian genes in their DNA. The colours resemble such creatures and possibly the urge to colour the body that way is too strong to resist. Perhaps they don't have choice.professor
Also, it's scientific fact that many people have a number of Neanderthal genes in their DNA. So it's reasonable to assume that they possibly influence the individual to partake in changing their appearance and use the excuse that it's artistic. One day we may discover that a percentage of the population have reptilian genes.
OTzi was s man preserved in ice and discovered between Austria and Italy. He is estimated to have lived between 3350&3105 BC. When examined, he had 61 different tattoos on his body. These tattoos were located on different acupuncture points. Acupuncture was believed to have been invented by Chinese, in more recent times. How come such knowledge existed so far back? It would appear that human hieroglyphics were motivated by our ancestors.
If I ever got a tattoo, it would be of a Tiger
Shawn......How big a tiger? And where would you put it? Wouldn't it frighten people?

help
Probably a small one on my upper right arm
Shawn ...... I might get one of the Titanic, but won't say where I'll put it.
blushing
Not for me. I told my children, please think twice before you put any tattoos in your body. Thanks to their thinking, they haven't had any yet.

California is a proliferating state of tattoos recently.
