'Before' the 'big bang!'

What I don't get about the 'big bang' is, what do theorists think existed 'before' the 'big bang?' And, are there alternate universes outside 'the big bang' universes?

The image that came "before" is as valid as the image which came "after" In such a scenario; there are infinite quantum copies of ourselves, in these (infinite); Multiverses...Thus one may be "old" in one and "young" in another; although time is relative to EACH of these Multiverses. Thus our Perception of Time is an illusion, as (overall), there is no "reference point"; and hence ALL Things may be regarded as happening Simultaneously...
We are 13 1/2 billion days late. If that is this theory? I'm everything in every direction with in our universe. Everything up to depth in your Cosmos laugh

Hi Mr Lovely wave
your link miclee, just further confirms for me, that 'big bang theory' is just that! A theory! I think it's also a very loose fitting theory, at that.

Science should start to get comfortable with the idea of the 'unknown,' if it wants to advance. It's only by being truthful (that the truth of certain matters are not currently scientifically known), that it will attain the truth faster.

If science had been saying from the very beginnings of science, that we don't currently know how the universe has come to exist (and they still don't), then I think we would be having more advances on the topic than we currently are.
Science knows how we came about. There was a flash of light caused by protons colliding and instigated by god. The light turned to matter and planets were gradually formed. Quite simple even for you. God populated the world with Adam and Eve and you eventually came to exist.

geez, we're certainly getting into mind boggling stuff now!confused
those who have had a Near Death Experience (NDE) often say that time was different whilst they had their experience. They seem to present time happening all at once, not like the drawn out experience by those on Earth.
this is where I draw a line. I don't believe there are exact copies of humans in other worlds. There may be other humans in other worlds, and possibly 'close' copies of humans from this world. But I don't believe there are exact copies, or exact copies that have previously lived in, or will live in, our world or other worlds.

People who think that won't be having any serious conversation with me!
And maybe that should be scientists position? That science is limited by time, so it can never get to the truth. Rather than saying 'it all began with the big bang.' What a load of crock coming from science!
now I think this is the best link so far. Well done Swamie
believing that creation evolved from a big bang would be like saying Picasso didn't actually paint any paintings. The paint arranged itself without anyone doing it
and all he did was sign his name to it...(creation being obviously on a much grander scale)
The intricacies evolved from very simple initial conditions. Consider the Mandelbrot Set (as an example):

The simple Iterative equation:

F(z) = z^2 + C

Will generate infinite complexity at ANY SCALE

Although beautiful; these patterns would appear to have no intrinsic intelligence behind them

"Identical copies" (with only minute differences); of ourselves; likely exist, in the (infinite) multiverse... professor
Well he was obviously wrong about that.
The thing with the multiverse theory is that although the math allows for it, it cannot be considered to be science because by the theory's own postulates, these parallel universes are not-observable by us in any way. In science, if you cannot observe/measure directly or indirectly something, then you don't need to take it into account.

Now, the non-interactivity of these hypothetical parallel universes if being questioned. If that changes, and these parallel universes do interact with each other, and we are eventually able to establish that through measurement or observation of some kind, then it's a whole different ball game.

I cannae wait.. I cannae.
Accept that Quantum Theory allows for a Multiverse; and all will be well....professor wave
Yeah, as the saying goes, in quantum: "shut up and calculate!"

As long as it kinda seems to work, it do. laugh
