The right to bear arms

Our Constitution allows any responsible citizen to own a gun for protection.

Our founders of this country had in mind that our protection is as important as our lives.

Some people think it should be changed because it's causing criminals to make killing faster and easier.

Really?

My question is, are these criminals not able to access these guns if this law is changed?
I don't think so.

What about you?

hmmm
That is very obvious Mic, obvious that our founders of this country knew who should run our government. FOR THE PEOPLE, BY THE PEOPLE, OF THE PEOPLE.

We as the people must make sure these bozos don't get out of line.

ps: I'm hoping that you've realised that the kids I posted are not just any kids. They're sandy hook elementary victims.
I hope you know that just because the gun laws changed doesn't mean these crimes don't happen.
Laws vary between US States.

E.G. -
Kyle Rittenhouse openly carried his rifle in Kenosha, Wisconsin & did so Legally.
Open Carry is Not Legal in other states, such as Florida.

Carry & other Gun Laws also vary between Countries - Fr'instance ...

Me too, Mic.
When the bad guys have them, well then the good guys should have them as well
is the thinking and that makes some sense.

However... there is a gun industry. Is that reason (economical)
once again making sure no politician
is even considering making changes to the law?
Idk. I trust good citizens to be responsible, just as we all are around the kitchen knife.
Sofar no local police knocked on the door saying
"hello, we are here to dull down your kitchen equipment".

I do see though that a few more killings happen cos of easy access to a gun.
Europeans think it's crazy, but over there it makes sense since it's already widespread.
Can they be lead back to the more civil style of Europe on the matter?
Is there any way Lindsy? And you know other parts of the world well.
No guns in the Philippines is there? Plenty of knives. What say you?
No the Philippines is like here G. You can own a gun as long as you have a license. I always had one. My brother was in the army and he taught me well how to fire those guns.
Ok Conrad. That is how it will be then.
If you compare how much guns there is around to how many shooting incidents there are
among the none criminals it's rather few I suppose.

By the way, here there are numerous AG3's in Norwegian homes.
Only the ammo is held back and only handed out if Ivan comes over that ridge.
who's Ivan?
Yes, shooting is fun. I have a sport shotgun which I used for sport and another for hunting (although I don't do that anymore. Killing animals (birds) is for barbarians). I never felt "powerful" or "cool" holding a gun though. That's very important. Very!
wow
Sorry, Ozzie ... I was lookin' at the Comment PIC & thought it was from LINDS!

LJ...... When you go out socially, apart from the gun in your purse, do you carry a violin case containing a machine gun? Are you Bugsy Jones?
cool
Crown NOrolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing. No need to. Besides I can't handle automatic rifles or machine guns.
doh
i think you're just stretching to try making a case you don't have.

if russia wants ukraine, the demonrats will open the doors to take it if they can.

that's the whole point. what country wants to invade another with about 80 million armed citizens?

we can't rely on our military. many would know and understand their oath to side with the people. many others would side with government. so would the population. civil war.
Actually Rizla, the constitution set our rights to bear arms primarily for our protection from the government if it chooses to rule the people away from our Republic. Of, by, and for the people kind of government.
Of Course that's the OBVIOUS intent!!

We're just getting trolled down a stupid-ássed rabbit hole ... bunny
All too Predictably & Typically so ... mumbling

cowboy
I think it's baffling when people tell us what is and isn't Mic.
That's a sentiment these days though isn't it? Not really going to protect yourself from the government I think it's more likely, perhaps because of the government, that you shoot yourself.
Nah Obs, while the possibilities of happening as intended, it is more, at least for me, a protection from criminals who won't hesitate to do harm against me. I feel safe with the company of my gun.
Nope, I was questioning our comment where you stated the population needed to be armed to defend against a hostile country, nothing else.

No country wants to attack the USA due to the MILITARY might of the US armed forces, it has nothing to do with armed car sales personnel or bar staff.
Rizla you never know. Saudi Arabia I heard is stepping up to become a military giant partnering up with China.
Nukes deter a foreign invasion but in theory guns have revolutionary potential because your own state may not nuke itself. But it's not the guns missing from a potential revolution, it's the spirit.
23 Nowhere else in the Constitution does a 'right' attributed
to 'the people' refer to anything other than an individual
right. What is more, in all six other provisions of the
Constitution that mention 'the people,' the term
unambiguously refers to all members of the political
community, not an unspecified subset... The Second Amendment
extends, prima facie, to all instruments that constitute
bearable arms... The very text of the Second Amendment
implicitly recognizes the pre-existence of the right and
declares only that it 'shall not be infringed.'

Justice Antonin Scalia (b. 1936)
District of Columbia v. Heller, June 26, 2008
But to ban guns because criminals use them is to tell the
innocent and law-abiding that their rights and liberties
depend not on their own conduct, but on the conduct of the
guilty and the lawless, and that the law will permit them to
have only such rights and liberties as the lawless will
allow. ... For society does not control crime, ever, by
forcing the law-abiding to accommodate themselves to the
expected behavior of criminals. Society controls crime by
forcing the criminals to accommodate themselves to the
expected behavior of the law-abiding.

Jeff Snyder
Washington Times, August 25, 1994
after the fight for independence, in which the british wanted our guns, the framers saw the need to keep a protective right. it was the general population that was able to unify against the invading forces.

the continental army came about from this. support for the local "rebels" fighting the british. the u.s. didn't have an actual military until much later.

there was a major event that showed the need and right. it hasn't changed. there isn't any argument that can be made to say it won't happen again. there isn't any argument to say our government would never try something stupid again. how many times have people been astounded, and dumbfounded, by how low politicians and governments will go today?

if japan would have been able to stop the u.s. and control the islands they wanted, how long might it have been before maybe wanting to try control of the mainland? was it worth the risk? it wasn't worth any more risk after midway. chalk one up for the military in that case.

people can say what they want, when you know much of the general population is already armed, it's a large deterrent all on it's own. that's why some of our politicians and false leaders would like to disarm us. they can do what they want if the people can't, readily, fight back.
