America is great, is there any place better?

For me, Switzerland is the only place I can think of. Opportunity, economic, social and health services considered.

So many people were wondering what makes America great and I think this information will give a good answer.

Having said that, I am sure there's more personal thoughts or ideas that wouldn't necessarily be reflected on this article.

Feel free to share what makes you think our one and only US Of A is great (or not). I know that it is the most sought country in the world or we'd have no illegal immigration problems.

"The United States is a highly developed country, and its economy accounts for approximately a quarter of global GDP and is the world's largest by GDP at market exchange rates. By value, the United States is the world's largest importer and second-largest exporter of goods. Although its population is only 4.2% of the world's total, it holds over 30% of the total wealth in the world, the largest share held by any country. Making up more than a third of global military spending, the United States is the foremost military power in the world and a leading political, cultural, and scientific force."

From Wiki.

If you value freedom, you'd better like America.

Last time I got involved in that q I was shot down pretty heavily, so I will not try again.

Great might be a bit over the top expression when discussing this and that might be the main problem for the ones who wanna count out reasons to not be excited, the ones you would call haters.

There is something called the American dream.
That is a positive thing in my book that any person on the planet can take part in
even if not in that continent while exercising that dream.
I once had an actual dream about being in some American city when I was only like 14years old or whatnot. I loved the atmosphere in that dream. It was a nice sunny summers day w nice happy people in combo with some rather tall buildings. I can still see it before me. Again, there was no activity going on - only shared happiness and tranquile.
There are many rich countries in the world, ie Jordan, etc, but when it comes to freedom, it's down the drain.
I dont know, i kinda prefer less developed places tho truth to be told...i have not seen every corner of this planet ...to name but a few that would consider visiting if I had the opportunity Crimea, Sevastopol ,Cuba Haiti/ Dominican republic ...Greece.Bulgaria ,Ukraine
Corrected version.
Visiting shouldn't be a problem Dedo. Your choices are as good as you prefer it to be. Just research how feasible it is for you to acquire a visa. Most countries pre covid times were so up in tourism industry and easy to travel. Post covid is a totally different approach.

Good luck. wave
Hehe, yea I applied a few years back and it was approved almost before I pressed enter. purple heart
Glad to hear that, cos that is the most important. The spirit of the people! hug
Its good to just get your visa anytime and good for 90 days. When you have several stamps on your passport that shows your history of travel then it's so easy to get one.

Did you know we Americans can go pretty much anywhere we want to go without acquiring a visa for tourism purposes? Exceptions are rare but not including socialist and communist countries.
Hi Rose!wave

For me, I think every place has its own civilization, culture, and beauty.

I can't give you an answer as to where is the best.
It depends on preferences/passions/values and individual comfort
the other is the weather (Rain/Cold/Hot) An individual's physical condition that is compatible with that climate.

But the place to live and suitable for me is Thailand, because I am born here I like the weather here not too cold or too hot There are rivers/mountains/forests/sea/sunlight. And there is fruit all season and cheap.
And most importantly, I can use Thai language without translating.peace peace heart wings heart wings

Love you all folk : teddybear
Absolutely Grand. You may not need that American dream as you're way past the margin but it's still promising to the rest of three quarters of the world. teddybear
Well said and rightfully so my dear Prim. The variables I explained has nothing to do with preferences sso, it's not in conflict with anyone's specific reasons. Heck the Philippines is one of the poorest country in the world and I personally want to go and live there at least in winter and back here in summer.
And for purposes of such a direction, I don't mind being obliged to assist you in any way I can. In my life I've not even thought of such a possibility but come to think of it there's many legal ways to immigrate in any country.
That's right, sister. I am happy with you ., "Weekends and the End of the month" dancingdancing

Thailand and the Philippines are like brothers and sisters and have been good neighbors for a long time. cheers
You are 100% right, America is great but unfortunately the present political party is ruining that Image very fast. Is there any better place? Definitely, all depends on personal choice.
I always like to think that most 'places' are good, but it's the people that make a good place a great place.
Example of what I mean is a tiny town in the desert of Namibia called Swakopmund. I have never met or interacted with more friendly, down to earth people in my life and because of them I'd consider settling there before I would choose a place in 'paradise', wherever that may be.wine
Absolutely Luke. Like I mentioned, each of us has preferences and that's according to different reasons and variables. Ie, monied people would perhaps choose their own island like Gates, Musk, Etal, like Aristotle did. I only placed this as a generalized and factual account of the reasons I mentioned, economic, social, opportunities, health and freedom.

I might add, almost all global research when it comes to benefit the whole humanity, are done here. But personal preference aren't, like I said in conflict with these facts.
I do feel that America is the place to live, but I'm not going to put other countries down that others on this site reside in. I'm sure most everyone, if not all feel that their country is best.
the point isn't to put down Shawn. I just wanted to share how it is described in the scale of global positions.
Ok, but if you say something that is not correct, at least admit it. The americans DID kill indians!
Opt, I am sorry if I didn't acknowledge that. Yes, they did.
This blog is about America being great, is it not? are we not allowed to say anything that shows America not being great?
Yes you can, but I am not going to steer this blog about those crimes You're referring to. It wouldn't be fair. Having said that, your opinion is noted.
Your opinion?, you live in a country that has violated everything that is decent!
So, why is Ireland not a good country?
I'm not running down your country, but America is not great, its far from great, and thats my
opinion, no more examples why, you live there, you like it, then thats ok,,once you are happy.
"America is great, is there any place better?"

Unless you are a child or a teacher, then you get shot and killed.

I can think of a hundred countries safer and better than America today.
America great?

America's greatness was a myth created by Hollywood.

Now, however, they are beginning to show the reality, which is....
Extreme poverty,
Racialism,
And crime.

America has exported all its manufacturing jobs and must now buy everything from abroad.

America is now 30 trillion dollars in debt and currently the debt is increasing by one trillion a year.

I find such an indebted nuclear armed country very worrying!

Is there any place better?

Good or better is a state of mind dunno

Maybe on another planet...or dimension? Hey? wink
I have friends who live there and hate Ireland and would love to come here.
Thanks John, I do.
Good for you.
Dtare of mind. You're right my dear.
Daisycat thanks for the information. I will check all of them. wave
Hello lindsyjones,

I like you because you are nice to people here on the blogs, you are also very fair minded even when someone is obviously attacking you. You are generous - hearted and know that life's too short to hold any grudges. Keep on being your lovely self, wine

(It's OK I'm not after your brain!)
Wow Avo, I am speechless.

Please hang around much longer.
My respects.
A woman like you will never be speechless that's for sure! hug
You're probably right wave
The first problem I sensed in America was the 'tipping culture' I just felt the employer should pay the wages. Later we heard about the Starbucks case. That's a strange way of doing things, don't you agree. As a 20 year old in the mountains, tips were never a part of life in Australia or NZ!
There's nothing wrong with tipping but I agree with the employer having to pay fai wages. Australia pays a Mcdonald employee over 21 bucks an hour. You'll never get that kind of minimum wage here. Having said that, food is cheap here compared to Australia.
Yep I'm proud to be an American.
