I don't like loading my pockets down with anything, but if I had to, it certainly wouldn't be change.
I've had a number of visitors ask me at work if I had change for whatever bill they had so they could get a snake out of one of the vending machines. Sadly I had to tell them I was sorry, that I didn't.

I don't carry money on me most of the time.
The newer round of vending machines offer change back from a ten dollar bill or accept debit car purchases... so there's no excuse for not having correct change.
It does with some of our vending machines out in the e.r. lobby. Some keep spitting out the $5 dollar bills (old and new bills) for whatever reason. I don't know how many times I've seen visitors and patients have that problem. I have been asked a few times if I had change for a $5.
The correct amount of change you should carry is 99 cents $0.99 in the following order.

2 Quarters
1 nickel
4 dimes
4 pennies

This way you will have the correct change under every circumstance. I've created and been following this rule for at least 15 years.
While we are on the topic of change, I just wanted to ask Shawn how much he tips for a haircut?laugh
