The price of gas has dropped sharply. SOME PLACES HAVE DROPPED MORE THAN A DOLLAR A GALLON...

About 9 weeks ago local gas prices peaked. Have you noticed? Prices appear to be going down sharply. Last month, some stations near the highway were a little over $5 per gallon while the cheaper stations were peaking around $4.79 to $4.85

I had business in the Hollywood area Wednesday and pleased to see a few stations as low as $4.17 per gallon for cash. I passed the opportunity and got gas in Fort Lauderdale for $4.27 I live in Palm Beach County and cheap gas was around $4.29 today.

A friend who has a membership with BJ's Club got gas on Friday and paid $3.89. That's a dollar less per gallon than he was paying in June!

Typically in the summer months, gas prices rise just when people go on vacation.
Since no one I know has the ability to control the price of oil as it gets to the refineries, all we can do for now is shop around.
There are a few phone apps that monitor gas prices so you can see who has the best price in your area.

Hopefully this is going to be a downward trend making consumers happy!

I pulled up a 6 month chart from the website gasbuddy to confirm my suspicion and the national average was $5.02 on June 12 and $4.40 on July 22. Yes, going down.

The inspiration for this blog was another blog that stated fuel prices were skyrocketing, as in presently happening. That wasn't factual. Prices peaked weeks ago. It made a claim from outdated information as prices were declining. Since I posted this blog, the other blog title was changed and now compares it with a previous administration and that Biden supporters being happy with the high price of fuel.
Was it something I said?
(title edited because some people mistakenly thought I said gas prices were a dollar a gallon. I said they dropped a dollar a gallon) But that's okay, you can still complain about it.

So, does this mean people will now be praising President Biden?
Not on CS... !! laugh
Chat our lowest is $2.05 per liter....... is 4 1/2 times $2.05 - $8,20...............
When we lived closer to the Us border we tanked there
Jenny, the conversion from liters to gallons is 3.78541 so $2.05 per liter equates to $7.76 per gallon.
$4.15 here now. The momentum is to the downside. gotta go
just below AUD$2 per litre here. Aren't the Americans peculiar refusing the metric change!? 3.8 litres roundabout per gallon. I'll stick to the bicycle and Shank's pony.
I never heard of Shank's pony and had to look it up.

A reference to the shank—the lower leg between the knee and the ankle—and the use of ponies or horses for travel.
They shouldn't be. The price of gas has doubled since the (s)election.

chancer, I'm sure you know the reason and have the solution. laugh
@chancer do you see the US administration as responsible for the price of petrol then? And specifically Biden? Remember when Russia and Saudi took the barrel price down to $40 or less (briefly -40!)? So that was some genius move of the then US President or UK PM was it - come off it, guffaw guffaw.
Thank you Chat will take note of the differents.................
There's a myriad of reasons from the war of Ukraine to people trying to shop more than they've worked. Companies hoarding profits because of uncertainty. To differing extents they stem from switching off the world to try and switch it back on again like an iPhone. What they've done is too disjointed even for a modern world that is in many ways a nerd spaz. You still need people able to do things it can't all be mongoloids on autopilot.
About 2 miles from home $4.11
More proof:

Average gasoline price falls 32 cents in continued decline

\
You will of course find some places price gouging which is against the law
The Keystone pipeline services Canadian tar sands oil which has nothing to do with anything. It is sold on the open market and that kind of oil is NOT used for gasoline.
Woh there, If you go spreading the real facts Chancer will have a hissy fitbeer
£1.95 per litre of diesel today that I believe could have been £1.70 and I expect to settle at around £1.60. About 20% more than before the pandemic reflecting the 20% fall in living standards. Apart from medicine and weapons we gave away too much in globalization and we will wish we hadn't turned so much of the land into urban decay - both the rust belt and the make-up brand whose fates are inversely correlated. We'll wish that we hadn't spent a million thousand hours in make-up.

Anyway -
Not tryin' to be a Debbie Downer here - BUT ...
Some Pundits opine that lowering gas prices are a sign of a Softening Economy -
And a harbinger of a Major Recession -
Or - given the number of factors converging like an Economic Perfect Storm -
A Full-Blown Depression.

This morning, gas at the place I normally go to was $4.11 and after lunch it dropped to $3.99
It's a very busy station in front of the Wal-Mart and there was a tanker pulling up for more.

applause
Under $4 per gallon. About a dollar a gallon less than 2 months ago!

Free gas any day Trump doesn't say something stupid.. I guess they're safe. They won't have to give away anything. rolling on the floor laughing
Hopefully our price will be going down on the first Wednesday in August. The first Wednesday of every month is when we have petrol, diesel, paraffin and gas (LNG) etc. price adjustments according to global market trends.
The Mobile station across from Murphy usually runs higher in price.
This afternoon, they dropped to $3.95
yes. policy DOES affect gas prices. the u.s. went from being a larger exporter, under Trump, to policies under o'biden, which put us back to being a major IMPORTER.

it's not just our 401k's and such taking hits from this misadministration. pretty much every thing is up, and still going. just because national reserves are tapped with more imports, doesn't mean o'biden is good. he's worse than ever because so many think he's defendable and go to great lengths to lie and cover for his incompetent actions. he and his party have continually sold us out.

the politics of 2020 where shutting every thing down against trump's recommendations was just the start of it. we'll be lucky to ever get back down to $2 a gallon gasoline again. EV's are extremely far from the answer but many won't read just how bad the lies of "green" really are.

guess that's why china can purchase about $1.9 billion dollars of farmland in the u.s. and more. is it another 10% for the big guy?

gas prices are still up no matter how people try rationalizing it. unreasonably so due to policies against the citizens and nation. their oaths to the people and country mean nothing. truly only working for themselves for power and control.
Gas here in Oklahoma is $3.79 per gallon. A friend of mine here in Oklahoma just returned from a trip to Michigan and back and told me it cost him $800.00. 5 years ago my trips to michigan and back cost me $300.00 round trip in gasoline.
about $4.39 where i'm at.

when search engines say it's only been $4 dollars and change as the highest paid around here, they're lieing. it went over $5.40 for months. that was for the 87 octane. it was higher still at times.
More likely is that the selling of oil to countries outside of the US has reduced the cost per barrel. but then that would mean Biden's administration got things right and you could never admit that.

No relief from bidenflation when it comes to transportation fuel costs near Dublin Ohio USA. sigh

"Tar sands (referred to as oil sands in Canada) are a combination of clay, sand, water, and bitumen, a heavy, black, asphalt-like hydrocarbon. Bitumen from tar sands can be upgraded to synthetic crude oil and refined to make asphalt, gasoline, jet fuel, and value-added chemicals.:
"

You forgot to mention the important fact that refining Tar Sand bitumen is extremely expensive and environmentally very damaging.

Had the Canadian pipeline continued, the cost of gasoline would have gone higher and for longer.

Tar Sands Petroleum is Not the Best stuff to refine into fuel - But it Can Be Done.
It becomes More Economically Feasible when oil prices Rise.

There is an oasis just outside a prestigious country club and they offer full service, hand wash, cafeteria, car detailing, etc. You can expect to pay as much as 75 cents more per gallon there than the other stations near them.
Murphy is still at $3.99 but the Mobile station jumped up to $4.04
Gas prices in the Fort Launderdale (Broward county) area are often lower, probably due to less tax
With so many stations around, I never installed an app for gas.
I see there are many.
