Tony was in hospice and incorrectly reported having already passed away on Tuesday. Several news stories got this wrong, including a Facebook post that was retracted. Although people in hospice don't have long on this earth, Tony's son Christopher stated he was in his last hours. Wednesday, it was confirmed Tony passed away.Child actor best known for playing the older brother Wally Cleaver to Jerry Mathers’ Beaver in the iconic series “Leave It to Beaver,” has died at the age of 77.
Announced in May this year, his cancer, which he had been diagnosed with years before, had returned.

Iconic “Leave It To Beaver” star Tony Dow did not die Tuesday after multiple media organizations reported his passing.
Dow’s wife, Lauren Shulkind, told TMZ Tuesday afternoon she mistakenly “believed her husband was dead.” She told his management team who announced it on his official Facebook page before deleting the post.
She said her 77-year-old husband is “still alive and breathing while in hospice care.” She told the outlet she is “distraught” over the mistake.
Christopher Dow, Tony’s son, told Fox News his father is in his “last hours.”
