20 years ago - the Bali bombing

The 20th anniversary almost coincides with the release of Umar Patek, one of the bombers who participated in building the bomb - 200+ people killed, 80+ Australians, and many many hideously burned and scarred. One of the great things to emerge from that time comes from Fiona Wood, the British-born Australian plastic surgeon who invented the spray-on skin technology and treated 28 of the Australian survivors, some of them with 90% skin burns. She was awarded OA and declared Australian of the year in 2005.
