Winter? NO!!
Our heat wave descended to winter temps. I refuse to fire. Run space heater. I can wear more and stand 65. Ok, maybe bring up a second heater and run both. FINE! I can take the hint. Should run wood furnace outside now to check it out before needed anyway. Yesterday I was with heater. I don't want to go outside..it is only 45 and windy. So, it is too cold to go out to start a wood fire to heat the house? Out with me!! Winter mode is all cats live on that side of the house and pile on top of the furnace. My wood furnace is in a close area and under cover.I had already taken the bucket off for summer rains and checked chimney with mirror. Started to add paper, cardboard and twigs to start. Two cats jump to the table, ready to leap to furnace. DUMMIES! It is not hot yet!
Got a fire going and went inside. Sitting on pins and needles. YIPEE! There goes the blower, all is good.
Summer I am always out the living room door. So feed cats on that side in the loggia. Old cats were already migrating to other side prepared for winter switch. But, two new kittens. One half tame, other very tame. As in I squat to work and she climbs to sit on my back. Get both kittens, into house for canned food and take out kitchen side. Put both on top of furnace. This is warm in winter. Here sits you.
Go out to do barn chores, there is my shoulder sitter, Dottie. Come back up from barn, grab, carry through house and put on furnace. STAY.
Old ma cat came up to eat inside. Put her out LR door and... There sits Dottie. Meow?
Pick up, across house and on furnace. Kittens were there when I did night fill.
This morning, went out with kibble and to fill wood and..both kittens were there. Finally!
It is a hoot in winter. I average 15 cats in winter. They pile on top of the wood furnace. You can tell who got shoved against the chimney pipe too close. White cats with brown fur. A couple of times even the outer guard hairs singed off. Huh..didn't you notice maybe getting a bit TOO WARM?

and already I'm cold and tired of trying to keep warm
Tired of those cats too, everywhere I look is one... if not 2 and 3 & more
It's hard enough trying to put up with one, let alone 15
