Still keeping it off......

13 years ago...I was at an all time high, I suppose you could say.. uh oh ....just looking at an old blog of mine from 2016 where I had lost about 80lbs or so since 2009 ...and since then, I have just put it in the back of my mind until I did some looking back and now it's like 13 years later and I'm still keeping it off...surprised myself laugh Progress is progress, though. I know I'll never be thin....but I'm happy where I'm at and at 50 now, I can't complain heart wings cheering

It was really difficult to put my old photos back up there again....but at the same time it reminds me of how far I've come and where I never want to be again. purple heart
Good going.applause
You look really healthy and lovely. Well done. banana
Thanks, blue! cheering wave
Thank you! Other than a few hereditary health issues, I still have the arthritis but it's nothing like it was then....definitely have more energy, that's for sure! applause wine
Well done. It feels good to have the extra weight off, hey.

I dropped around 40 lbs recently since getting a reality check from the doctor with my health (diabetes and high cholesterol). I changed my diet and been shedding weight ever since.
Thank you! It sure does.....congrats on the weightloss! It’s a lifestyle change....so once ya put the unhealthy habits in check, everything else falls into place. Stay healthy, that diabetes is no joke handshake wine
Diabetes can kill you if left unchecked. I got to say, the healthier routine is the best thing I ever done for myself. I have less back and hip pain and I literally feel lighter on my feet. Only negative is that I been froze to death because of losing that insulation but I am adjusting.
Agreed....when I lived out west, I was assistant to an endocrinologist....I’ve seen what happens when people have complications with diabetes. So glad you’re keeping up with your health, keep at it wink
The way I see it is either look after myself or die young. I don't wanna die so I best look after myself. It gets easier with time when you adjust to the new routine. I think the key is not to make the routine too radical that its unrealistic, you need a routine that is within a range that you can adapt without reverting back. I still has a scattered treat but its only that now, a treat. Once a month or so, I'll have takeout chicken but not 2 times a week like I was doing before. All of my bloodwork since the diagnoses has been good so I'm ok with the routine now as it is.
Yes! applause ......great job! cheering
Your health is everything. Money, looks, everything else don't matter if you don't have your health.
That was an amazing accomplishment girl to take off all that weight and keeping it off, you can be very proud of yourself:..........................thumbsup: thumbs up thumbs up
You're doing great, no wonder you're glowing.

I went the other way. Last year I found out I had an ulcer and they gave me a diet to go with it. It was mostly carbs. But sweet potatoes are suppose to help heal ulcers so I ate one every day and yogurt and things that wasn't too hard to digest like mashed potatoes.
Went back this year and I had gained 30 lbs. and my blood pressure had went up. So I'm trying to lose the 30 lbs. I think of it like me carrying a 30 lb bag of cat food around all day, I'm sure every joint in my body would appreciate not doing that.
That's AWESOME! head banger
Well done! applause applause
Wow! You did very well! applause Changed my diet about your age and workout/jog and never felt better.
Figure I've lost many friends for not changing their diet. Use the slightly smaller plate from the large dinner plates to keep in line instead of backing the truck up eating everything - lol. I don't think about this much. Hope you stay on track! cheering dancing
Oh absolutely! It wasn't so much as what I had looked like......just couldn't do anything...I was way too young to have so little energy. ....and, yes, those warnings from the doctor....with diabetes in my family, I was high risk, borderline diabetic, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, etc. So you are absolutely right! thumbs up wine
Thanks, jenny! I was just shocked to look back on it...and to think 13 years later that it stayed off. I mean, I am still overweight....most likely always will be...but nothing like I was. yay wave
Thank you, Shawn! wave
Thanks, Kalpataru! grin wine
Can't fault losing weight, can you? It's good for your health, it's good for your appearance, it's good for the economy, it's good for the environment, it's even a good part of your patriotic duty - an uplift in the attitude of your fellow Americans towards one another. Well done.
Weight loss is not always a good idea though for a lot of older people. A little bit of extra weight (beyond the recommended bmi) is energy stored and needed when they lose an appetite and calorie intake due to prolonged illness like pneumonia etc.
Unfortunately, not everyone is successful in doing so....but shouldn’t be thought any less of dunno
To some extent, I agree....though, being excessively overweight may pose as much harm as being too weak and thin. handshake
Yeaà true, health concern is one thing...
But to be conscious, rather to be extra conscious...that is again a health issue.
~~~~
Much more to say...
Later...as its the last chapter I would like to read
wink
Nah....I’m not uber conscious lol.....just want to be healthy, besides my smoking.....I rather enjoy the new found energy ....
wave
Hpy......strange though....potatoes once a month, veggies and lean meats shouldn’t cause weight gain confused .....have you asked your doctor to take a blood test to look into the idea of hypothyroidism? dunno wave
well done!
I'm trying to lose a few lbs sigh
Thank you! it's more or less what you eat, rather than how much. Just change out the intake dunno conversing wave
I intend to..thumbs up
Eating to live, not living to eat.
Good for you Red, and might I add, you're looking swell lol
Seriously, you look great very happy
just don't get too carried away with the slimming, sometimes more is better than less.
wave
Thank you so much! Agreed, I think I'm happy where I'm at....I just maintain with the same foods I've been eating to get this way. It keeps me at a plateau that I can work with...as long as I have energy flow, I'm good wave
You kinda learn after so many years of this, what foods make you have more energy and what foods make ya sluggish....I think everyone is different with what foods work for them wine
I agree handshake
what's one mans nutrition is another mans poison.
I know with heavy people their health is never taken seriously or investigated properly, like it should be.... too quickly some doctors put it down to being about weight than perhaps a medical condition instead.
100% Correct. I had gone to doctors for years when I was younger. Any health condition I had, they had to throw the weight factor in there and kept telling me to lose weight but never really could give me a method that would work in that direction. I did it myself. I started paying attention to how I felt after eating certain things. ...and your body will tell you if you're really paying attention. When I was having just a bad day...no motivation, fatigue, body aches, etc....I would think, well, what did I eat today....and many times it would make sense when I would think about it and I learned to stay away from certain foods. And on the other hand when I had a good day.....where I felt like I downed 3 pots of coffee and bursting with energy....again, I would think, well....this is awesome....what did I eat today....and again, it would make sense....and learned to eat those foods more often. Eventually I learned what to avoid and what to eat more of, according to what my body was telling me...and it actually worked. But some may have health issues that need different diets so what I eat would not work for them....it may worsen their conditions that they live with. Healthy diets are so individual. handshake
