Actions, reactions, behaviour from way back then, without a name.

In a previous blog, the songs "Every breath you take" from Police and "One way or another" from Blondie, we're mentioned in connection with stalking, which also brings to mind "Somebody's watching me" from Rockwell. I'm sure there're lots more songs from way back then, that are about stalking or mobbing.
Isn't it strange how even though stalking and mobbing existed way back then, we didn't have a name for such behaviour, yet such existed.
As child growing up in the 60's -80's, I remember being mobbed at school and even in my own family....being called different names or being excluded because my dad was an alcoholic and just about everyone knew it.

In a similar story, I knew a kid in school who was treated poorly because his father did prison time. He was often unfairly bullied about it.
That's tough growing up feeling the pain of something your parents did... or didn't do.
I guess the grown ups were different back then because storming the beaches of Normandy was too recent in the collective memory as was the great depression and rebuilding after the war. They probably turned a blind eye to many upsetting things and if they can just make a better life for the kids in general, then that'll do.

Today we have obviously inverted this. Helicopter parents compensate for the coming recessions and wars, or so they believe.
And I reckon inequality features, too. Everybody used to be more working class, a little rough around the edges but today we are different. There's the bourgeoisie and there's the underclass with not a lot in the middle, there are safespaces very refined and there are ghettos not at all refined. A person from area could not survive in the other.
Even the education used to be different. The grammar schools with pupils who could use long words and throw a punch? You don't get that anymore. Anybody educated today is almost bound to be practically disabled, easy to intimidate physically.
