The 'Red Wave' turned out purple...

For more than a year, there were predictions that votes for Republicans would send a 'Red Wave' for the mid-term elections. If you stand back and look, it's pretty purple. The predicted wave didn't come as predicted.
I've seen a few difference of opinion reports as to why... candidates supported by former president Trump didn't do so well at the polls. Was it him or was it because voters didn't want to see vocal right-winged overly confident candidates like Lauren Boebert in office?

I do think that Trump had very much to do with the less than stellar results.....Especially, his timing of his big announcement on November 14th.

I think the biggest factor though, was the Republican’s inability to appeal to the youth of America....

The younger generation has a very low opinion of the GOP....the reasons are many...Rowe vs. Wade overturn was one. But, the biggest factor, is they get their information from social media platforms...and, the Republicans are not portrayed in a favorable way on most of these.
Young democrats are on the same page as their democrat parents. Young(would be)republicans not so much. They'll be more likely to believe in climate change but also more likely to believe the onus to fight climate change is on non-western countries. Why? One reason is being realistic, we can't fight climate change on our own, and the other reason is the lack of guilt, the young obviously haven't been living the western high life for 60 years so the tendency to just blame the west is a lot lower. There's less of the dated thinking that blames the west and white people for everything wrong with the world, but still accepts climate change, very old-fashioned is the view that whites have a monopoly over the earth. White guilt implies that whites rule the world, with great power comes great responsibility but it's a bit of a joke to regard the west as powerful.
Young people are more likely to accept climate change, but also feel that nothing can be done on our own. And we now know that there are countries far more successful, and much more affluent, doing far less than we are.
I don't entirely agree. If the west's leaders (eg. the person's controlling the teleprompter that Biden uses)have the ability to convince the majority of the western public that everything they see and hear on msm is true, then yes I say the west is dangerously powerful.
JMO dunno
When boomer democrats say recycle your plastic bags and use them to smother your kids the hall monitoring democrat youths go along with it.

But the rest look at their right wing dads with a certain disagreement. We don't want the automated gainsaying of democrats where you just say climate change isn't real, we want something new and different in the political life of the culture.
The no power shocker is Russia.
Donald junior has to be the fool of the year after announcing a bloodbath would occur just before the midterms.rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing
If dems win the razor thin House, it will be making history! Hasn't happened in midterms in100 years!wow wow wow
And even though I've become more of a pro-lifer in my old age I still the republicans are not nice to pregnant women. Some of the lengths they'll go to be pro-life makes me think these people have gotta be divorced, nothing that bad could happen amongst the unmarried which obviously many younger people are.
And it's harder to accept that the election was rigged when you're young. Life's just a lot more random than the well-controlled environment of seniors, you can expect life to surprise you instead of it being some insipid plan.
America doesn't need a 'Red Wave' as such. All that it needs is enough votes to help balance the scales of in-justice concerning the will and expectations of majority of sane American. A balance of power is good.
They tend to dominate the places where there are are very people basically. The deserts. the forestland, the rocky mountains, the great plains where you can look for miles and miles and not see a person. handshake
I note with some relish that the biggest touter of the red tsunami, with his 'you read it here first' thread, has not re-entered to add to his prediction gloat. Surely his embarrassment is not less than the Bloodbath of Trump Jnr, though he likewise will never admit to it. Perhaps VKH will turn up in the 'The Fix is in. Another rigged election' . Last resort of the red-faced. When should one rub people's noses in it? Now feels like a good time!
Got it. What you are saying is rich people who live in densely populated areas and not farms, don't deal with reality, are heavily swayed by news an media.

How long did it take you to arrive at that belief?
