Apple Helps Chinese Communists Suppress Protests
Apple Helps Chinese Communists Suppress Protests – Removes Crucial Tool of Dissent on iPhones and Does Not Tell Mainland Users.Sadly, the freedom protesters were not able to use AirDrop, a file-sharing feature on iPhones that allows users to share content in authoritarian states.
Apple removed the feature in their latest update in China and did not notify users.
Apple is working with the communists now.
Anti-government protests flared in several Chinese cities and on college campuses over the weekend. But the country’s most widespread show of public dissent in decades will have to manage without a crucial communication tool, because Apple restricted its use in China earlier this month.
AirDrop, the file-sharing feature on iPhones and other Apple devices, has helped protestors in many authoritarian countries evade censorship. That’s because AirDrop relies on direct connections between phones, forming a local network of devices that don’t need the internet to communicate. People can opt into receiving AirDrops from anyone else with an iPhone nearby.
That changed on Nov. 9, when Apple released a new version of its mobile operating system, iOS 16.1.1, to customers worldwide. Rather than listing new features, as it often does, the company simply said, “This update includes bug fixes and security updates and is recommended for all users.”
Hidden in the update was a change that only applies to iPhones sold in mainland China: AirDrop can only be set to receive messages from everyone for 10 minutes, before switching off. There’s no longer a way to keep the “everyone” setting on permanently on Chinese iPhones. The change, first noticed by Chinese readers of 9to5Mac, doesn’t apply anywhere else.

Everything globally adds up to economic collapse post covid emergency measures.
When people expected to return to normalcy we has no say in the matter.
Family, friends and faith are our only hope in lieu of finances.Do not take stock! (in their lies).
Where as America goes by Republican Democrat Independent
Now I hope this is the learning msg of the day for you......
Since America does not have a ruling party; it makes your original comment acerbic at worst...and ill informed as usual.
Naming is esoteric to those in the know......
A Republican is political party.
It sounds like you don't like labeling regimes for what they are.
If I have to keep teaching you, I might gave to charge you with a tutoring fee.
My smartphones are Oppo and Xiaomi ... I'd buy Huawei if it weren't for the US bias and pressure on Google to withdraw Android licence from Huawei. I'll have to look into Honor phones I can see.

I would like to tell you about an incident that happened in our neighbourhood and in my home.
The night before last, because the property owner suddenly said that he wanted to block off
several exits in the neighbourhood, I raised an objection in the group, I wanted the property owner
to, instead of a lockdown, change it into assigning some staff to check codes at the gates, this
way it is more convenient and possible for the property owner to pass in and out and it would also
ensure more safety for our community, but he property owner did not reply to me in the group at
that time. I thought he ignored it my message and this would be the end of the matter!
However, just yesterday morning, Liao Yong, the director of the Social Security Comprehensive
Management Office of the Hehua Sub-District Office in Liuyang City, Hunan Province, broke into
my house with three policemen. My husband was alone with our two children and was worried
about scaring them, so he wanted them to talk outside, but several of them got physical with my
husband and after forcing their way into our home, they directly accused and label us as making
"'anti-government remarks"
, after my husband argued back, he pinned my husband to the sofa
and beat him.
There were two children in the home at that time! The child was so frightened that he cried loudly
for his dad.
My husband has been suffering from a headache and was uncomfortable after the beating, and
the children kept crying because they were so frightened.
After learning that my home has CCTV cameras, he asked us to delete the video in an attempt to
cover up the whole incident,
We hope that the relevant authorities will investigate and give us justice!
Dear neighbours, we all live in the same neighbourhood.
Neighbours and friends, we live in the same community, if we are treated in such an inhumane
way just because we want the property heads to change their decision, how can we guarantee
our personal safety when we live here ?
I would like to ask the help of all of our neighbours to uphold justice in this situation.
