Astronomy and the dark side of the moon!

Astronomy appears to be a subject that puts CS bloggers to sleep.
Lots of times I planned to blog a story or two as there is so much happening in the world of science with the Orion capsule and James Webb space telescope. Amazing photos that are unaffected by the earth's atmosphere.

Now we may get to see the Dark Side of the Moon and not have to listen to it...

Yea, thanks for the blog... as it's about bedtime here sleep yawn laugh
But you can wake me up again with some astrology.

wave Chat, I think the topic appears 'boring' because it's mostly about stills (or videos), that seldom offer any interaction with life forms (i.e. people or animal). A movie about travelling to a planet and experiencing it first hand would, however, be sure to grab one's attention.

Perhaps Elon Musk needs to focus more on that, than on Twitter. I really thought that that program of his would have gained more ground.sigh
I doubt these explorations will be able to seek out new life and new civilizations or to boldly go where no man has gone before. At least not in our lifetime.
laugh

Some videos have brought forward theories about distant planets with minerals and liquids in no atmosphere environments at sub-frozen temperatures. Oceans of slurry gasses that become liquids at higher temperatures.

My interest is in the satellite photos taken without distortion created by earths atmosphere. Shots of the moon would be a good example.

Also, it's been noted we haven't seen closeups of the lunar junk we left there 2 generations ago. Hmmm...

I bet those little green men get tired of cleaning up our trash after we leave.I wish more attention and money was spent on this miserable little globe we cling to. But, man has always sought more territory. Why? Some the reason we stood up..to see what is over there. Mainly tho..greed. We didnt go back to the moon because there were no diamonds, emeralds, gold..just dust. Know what? It is still dust! But, greed needs a base to move to other planets to hunt for treasure.
Some feel to have alternatives to earth if...The sun powers this whole galaxy. It goes, all those planets, moons, stars go with it.
Can one imagine what could be done on earth with the money used for a moon shot or any other space missions? But, the rich squander their money they steal from the poor in the humanitarian quest to get richer.tongue
Seti has been sending signals out for..what? Forty years? And no answer. It scares us that we might be all there is. No other life forms to save us from ourselves.moping
There is no dark side of the moon, only a side we can't see. The Earth and moon are locked together by gravity and centrifugal force. The rotation of the moon on it's axis perfectly matches it's orbit around the Earth which is why the hemisphere which faces the Earth never varies. IMO, the only explanation for this condition is the density of the moons mass must not be uniform resulting in a heavier section which is always facing the Earth. This way even if we could go to the moon and speed up or slow down it's rotation, eventually it would return to the balance it's in now as the heavy spot comes around to face the Earth.
Orzzz, let's not forget all the inventions we have benefited from as a result of NASA technology.

Here is a list of some:
LED technology
Microchip technology
Solar-power technology
Advanced water purification
Scratch resistant lenses
Telemetry and the wireless control of devices
GPS technology
CAT scans and Infrared sensors used in medicine that measures body temperature where surgeons can map brain tumors.
Composite products that are stronger than steel
Foil blankets and home insulation
Memory foam
Freeze dried foods
Robotic technology used in prosthetic limbs
I imagine it looks very much like the side we can see. Maybe 1 day NASA can send a mission to the moon and install some lateral aligned rockets to speed up or slow down the rotation so we can observe the entire surface. But then again why bother?
China landed a module on the dark side a few years ago.
Chang'e 4, named after the fairy-story character of the moon festival.
Thanks for the link.
I'm waiting for some views of the American landing, the flag and the junk that was left there.
The sun rotates 12 times in 1 earth year..
