The American exported disease - obesity

I see someone here doesn't like remarks on her 'China virus' blog about the American disease, and so deletes them ASAP. Home truths. So let me put them out there again.

When I first travelled to China 25 years ago, I never saw any fat people, none whatsoever. Then there was a BigMac in Nanjing Dong lu that was convenient for a western toilet, but would I eat there? Not on your nelly! Excreting there was comfortable however.
Now of course, every major train station is surrounded with Bigmac, Kentucky, Pizza Hut, Subway; and the major city intersections too. Obesity now is rife in China, and you can bet 300,000+ people are dying of it and causally related disease every year in China just as they are in the USA. But the USA reaps about $10bn a year from China alone for the privilege of feeding them fastfood and taking home the profits. I think China is the major consumer of their (hamburger) product. Australia is on a par with USA in the obesity stakes, and the USA profits from their deadly exports worldwide (but not from Russia any longer - they pulled the plug, poor Russkis!).

I can see were you are coming from as i saw that myself when i visited China to now when i just see the people on the telly though.

After eating food in china i found it very nutritious indeed nothing like what we get in the Chinese restaurants here

Still its up to yourself what you shovel into your mouth Fargo laugh
The Russians have learnt how profitable the fattening foods are, they use Capitalism as it was meant to be used, be confident nothing healthy replaced the profit margin!
Don,t know about that veggie food is dearer doh
@korn glib facile and 'korny';
The marketing draws the audience and the custom. They don't care if you kill yourself eating their pap just as long as you pay. Especially Children and thus Parents. American families, government and schools in particular are nutrition ignorant, it seems.
Some good points in this blog Farg's, i think the prices of processed foods will increase like normal;; i wonder if the processed foods will end up being the cheapest foods on the market ?
The marketing draws the audience and the custom.

Yes. Marketing can draw, but it can't force. I think TVs and radios still come with an OFF switch already installed.
