Spittoon...

My asthma is like the tides in the ocean... high on some days and low on others. Normally, I'll go with only a puff or two of Albuterol (rescue) inhaler. If I'm around someone with really strong perfume, I'll need another 'hit' to keep things rolling.
A few months ago I had a tough time after getting into a rental car. It was sprayed and prepped minutes earlier. I had to wait for the car as nothing else (to my liking) was available. The chemicals they use are toxic and within a few days my asthma medicine wasn't working. I was coughing up green chunks and went to the doctor because it turned into a respiratory infection.
I know, TMI, but every morning when I got up and showered, it would loosen 'stuff' in my lungs and I would go through a coughing session. This happened a few times a day, especially when exercising in my morning walks.
I use lots of paper cups and after a drink, I'll keep the empty cup... just in case and it's often used as a spittoon.

Ya gotta do what you've gotta do...

I see that cuspidor is the Portuguese word for spittoon. May be I'll use that as it has a nicer sound...

I use Ventolin on those occasions but use INCRUSE umeclidinium and fliticasone every morning. The ventolin is used just for emergency
RED, thanks for that information.

VENTOLIN HFA is the name brand for an albuterol inhaler.

Fluticasone is a steroid based nasal spray used to treat allergies.
Any side effects?

When I had the respiratory infection, the Pulmonologist I went to prescribed TRELEGY that has fluticasone, umeclidinium and vilanterol.
I only use that when I have severe asthma and it takes a few days to actually get things back to normal. The doctor thinks I should take it all the time, I only use it as needed.
Chat: do you have allergies? If so maybe you can take allergy tablets daily during the allergy season to help prevent asthma attacks. I have just started taking mine, and will have to do so until the end of october, but if I miss a day or more, I usually get an asthma attack. I have 2 inhalers which I carry with me all year round just in case: Giona and Bricanyl Turbuhaler; couldn't find the english names or translations.
Gigi, thanks for your comment.
I'm able to research the 2 medicines you mentioned:

Bricanyl Turbuhaler contains the medicine
terbutaline. Terbutaline belongs to the class of drugs called
bronchodilators. Bronchodilators relax the muscles in your
airways. This helps to open your airways, making it easier
for you to breathe. BRICANYL TURBUHALER relieves
sudden symptoms such as wheezing, cough and shortness of
breath.

Giona Easyhaler is a corticosteroid or steroid (cortisone-like medicine). It works by preventing inflammation (swelling) in the lungs. It's used to help prevent the symptoms of asthma. When used regularly every day, inhaled Giona Easyhaler decreases the number and severity of asthma attacks. However, it will not relieve an asthma attack that has already started.

They appear to have the similar effects to the medicines prescribed for me... but I don't take them unless it's an emergency.

Also, there is an allergy/asthma medicine Singulair (montelukast) I have, I used it 2 years ago when my asthma was bad, but I'm not taking it now.

My allergies aren't too bad so I don't take anything specific.
While doctors are prescribing lots of different ones, I generally avoid them because the side effects outweigh the benefits.
wave hi chat the two inhalers i use every morning are long term effective, keeping me at a good level.

The ventolin i carry with me as a rescue remedy if i get short of breath (past normal) when walking, i may have walked unwittingly field spraying or som tree pollen i have allergy to.
I have COPD which is with me all the time though. They tried me with the subuteral saying it was exact same properties as ventilin but for me it did not work as good. The also tried to put me on the two morning inhalers into one trelegy but it works for some but i found i used ventilimn more often so refused to change.

All good may it continue but the one your doc said take it all the time is good as a long term rescue remedy. Just k=like me though it depends how you feel about meds.

I love walking (and hugging trees) grin so take meds now

Keep well teddybear
Oh side effects was a voice change ( A new geordie accent )laugh
@ Chat: All the best with your health. Thanks for the reply. I only use the inhalers when I feel an asthma attack on the way. I'm allergic to quite a few things, certain foods, pollen, grass, too much chlorine (can't go the a pool), cigarette smoke to name a few, so I have to take allergy tablets for most of the year....february to october. Last week I started, but realise now it was too late, as my nose and eyes keep getting watery. For the past 25 or so years, I've been using Cetirizine, my doctor wants me to change to another type as it's been getting negative reviews the past few years, but it's the only medicine that works for me so I'm not going to change. Having multiple allergies makes it hard to find a medicine to keep all under control, so why change a good thing.
Every Western movie had a saloon and every saloon had a brass spittoon.
Spittoon - makes me think of the sound of of 'chawin baccy' in old westerns, perhaps with Jack Elam or Gabby Hayes
Amylase .[ Digestive enzyme
When used as a food additive, amylase has E number E1100, and may be derived from pig pancreas or mold fungi. Bacilliary amylase is also used in clothing and dishwasher detergent...

Sounds yummy bob, I'll have to look into that.
Yellow mustard?
Yes , the yellow mustard , not the honey mustard .
Hi . Did you try the mustard ?
I don't have any mustard in my house and plans are to go shopping this afternoon.

Should I look for pure mustard powder if I can find it, or the kind in a squeeze bottle mixed with Vinegar, Salt, Turmeric and Paprika?
Amylase is in the intestines of children 10x
Moreso than a 30 year old.
Look a widdle deeper - ..you should real eYes by
Now who the straight man is here.
Part 2 ...as a supplement it will almost always be
Paired w/ lipase & other enzymes.
20 years ago studies revealed Fresno CA had the dirtiest air in Amerika. Thus my local health store guy, recommend an enzyme supplement as opposed to popping allergy pills 3x per day.
The mustard in the bottle .
Bob, thanks!
Ann, thanks!

I'm headed out to work... back later ~~
Yes, I'm into the 3rd day of this and waiting for something to report.
How long and how often do I need to do this?
If you used two tsp of mustard as i told you to , you are good to go .
Please let me know if you are stll having asthma attact .
The mustard has no effect on reducing my asthma.
Sorry about that , but it depends on what type of musterd you use .
