In the 70's I toured the East coast of Canada playing gigs in Fredericton, Moncton and Halifax. We drove in an old Ford van with a U-Hauler trailer in tow loaded with equipment. Some of the roads had been capped and the drive was okay, just a little scary going over hills. The following year the same roads were distressed. I'm told the water soaks into the asphalt and freezes. When that happens it breaks off chunks of the new road and the potholes return.
