RUSSIAN SPY TRAWLERS IN NORTH SEA

Apparently there are fishing trawlers in the North sea occupied by Russian spies who are mapping the energy supplies to UK. Wind farms etc. No doubt they are planning some kind of cyber attack as part of their revenge for the sanctions on Russia. The government is aware of this and so it will be interesting to see how the situation developes.

Actually it is more probable they are planning a physical attack on the undersea cables (Internet, electric, etc.). Defensive actions will be taken if needed. Pray for the Russian submariners.

Well, they are mapping the area and contemplating some kind of attack. Energy is no doubt in their mind. A while ago, the Russian pipeline was destroyed off the coast of Sweden. Maybe the Russians weren't responsible for that and they are thinking also of revenge.

They have been depth charging their own (not in use) pipe lines and blaming the West.. Satellite imagery of the 2 weeks before the Nordstream pipeline blasts show only Russian ships in those areas. Add in the only navy with submarines or deep submersibles actually in the Black Sea is the Russian Navy which has 3 subs in it.

You do know the Russians have an ample number of spy satellites that could produce that sort of map more accurately and with less trouble?

I believe they are more interested in finding the undersea cables and figuring out which of the many cables at that location carries what. I would not be too shocked to learn some of the 'trawlers' carry divers and explosives. I also suspect those same divers may have unpleasant experiences if they get too close to some cables.

@op nothing so remarkable about Russian ships or trawlers listening and spying, really, is there? Where are American ships not listening and spying, where are the USA satellites not scrutinising worldwide? Just look at the ring of naval bases around China and Russia.

Of course those in blue are fixed bases - the mobile spy ships and planes and satellites, well just about everywhere! That article is probably totally outdated, bet the blue dots have just about doubled.

One day you may find a Russian spy looking in your house window. But that's ok. It's only to be expected. It probably happens everywhere. We should all expect that.
