The E. Jean Carroll case...

This deserves a blog of it's own. Back in the 1990's Carroll claims Donald Trump raped her in a famous New York City department store. Trump denied her allegation. He said she's not his type.
I read she kept the garment she was wearing that has his sperm on it and a DNA test would be conclusive. I also read the court isn't allowing the test.
There's a second issue of defamation where he's being sued by Carroll based on disparaging comments he made in response to her accusation.

Trump's lawyers tried and failed to get both cases dismissed.

Over the years, he's been accused of rape several times, but none of them stuck. I recall one woman backed out before the trial due to death threats.

Another woman came forward and the situation was different. Either Trump or one of his lawyers made a clarification or comparison, but that only sounded like he was part of both and the women weren't lying.

So the man who's in court over business fraud, indirectly paying a porn star hush money, a boasting womanizer with a history of affairs while married, had partied with Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell is teetering over a rape case that may actually lean in Carroll's favor. He would be found guilty of s*xual assault. Convicted Rapists in Florida are on a list and their movements are often restricted.

"She's not my type" is a way of demeaning his accuser, i.e. causing someone to lose their dignity and respect of others.

Why would anyone demean their accuser, unless the wanted to reduce their position of greater power under the circumstances?

A non-deceptive person would be horrified at a false allegation and deny the alleged crime itself in the strongest of terms.
While Trump wasn't required to be present at the trial, he did use his social media site to post inflammatory statements about Carroll during the trial that made the judge request to his lawyer he refrain from such comments.

It wouldn't surprise me if he's held in contempt for disobeying the courts request.
Maybe a day in jail would be enough to show him the judge is serious.
So I guess I do know how America recovers and it's by a new generation. The old are set in their ways and that way is to annihilate the other half of society, growing older and so bitter makes the coming civil war almost impossible to avoid. No new paradigm can arise, the soul cannot be healed, because it's too old.
Right, as thought her not being 'his type' means he didn't do it.
I read today Trump's legal team asked for the names and addresses of the jurors. If that falls into the hands of Trump and he posts their information on social media, their lives and the lives of their families would be in danger.

This is a man with a long history of attacking witnesses, investigators, prosecutors, trial jurors, grand jurors, judges, and others involved in legal proceedings against him.

Nothing like a Mafia ploy of intimidating witnesses or is it?
Is that something a defendant can do in the US?

Or were his legal team being as mad as he?
Sorry, that was me above.
jac,
I read (from a user comment) divulging the names & addresses of the jury is legal request of the defendants lawyer after selection, but in this case, the request came prior.
I also read in this case they were anonymous, so maybe the judge realized the potential of harm that could come from a trial so public.
Agreed, he's pulled off 6 bankruptcies unscathed. Brilliant!

Well let's hope Kennedys nephew can show you guys how it done.
That was for Chat.
Despite having been photographed with her and her then husband at a party in the late 1980's, Trump claims to never have met Carroll.

Do you see a pattern forming? Actually, it was formed a long time ago. It's Trump's MO (modus operandi) in an attempt to distance himself with anything that could connect him with something negative about him.
I've just seen the photos from you last link.

Oh, my giddy aunt. wow
Correct. If the event never happened, how could he comment on the dialog?
He denied it happened, yet he's throwing mud against the wall to see if it sticks.
Typical Donald J. Trump approach. Again, he was connected but looking for a viable way out that the judge/jury will accept.
"She's not my type" is supposed to mean he didn't do it.

BUT if she was my type I probably did it.
Darn if you do and darn if you don't.
That was not my dream. Most teenagers want to try many jobs to find what they like.
Thanks to my parent's guidance I was able to explore in a safe way.

We all have the right to do what we want, that does not mean we should.

Women have a right to walk down a dark alley, but that does not mean she should.
Now perpetrators are held responsible for their actions and still it is an up hill battle for the victims.

A few decades ago victims were told not to report, no one will believe them. Listening to so many victims talking today because of the "me too movement," is scary.

THANK YOU TO MY PARENTS for keeping safe.
Up until now, most of the reader comments to the articles have read leaned in favor of Carroll.
Last night I saw some comments that were very different and shed new light to the equation.
The department store is Bergdorf Goodman. They sell name brand goods from top manufacturers/designers like Prada and Gucci.

Trump was already a celebrity in New York City and had an entourage whenever he went shopping.

If you wanted to use the fitting room, a sales associate would keep track of the rooms and the number of garments you took to try. If something didn't fit, they would take it back and select a different size for you.

So, the commenter said it wasn't possible for Trump to push his way into the fitting room while Carroll was using it.
I said it earlier this case could go either way, but it's up to a jury to decide. If they take into account how he feels empowered to mistreat women then the outcome won't be favorable on his side.
I think it was intentional for her not to 'remember' a specific time/date.
Why?
If she did, Trump would amazingly produce an out of town calendar appointment on or before that date making the perfect alibi.

Smart girl, isn't she?

If you followed along, there was a change in the law that allowed her to file suit.
"Now perpetrators are held responsible for their actions and still it is an up hill battle for the victims."
News this morning... Trump is seeking a mistrial.
On what grounds?

I'm not sure being very not nice carries any legal weight, as a rule. hmmm
Does this mean that Trump's absence was to downplay the seriousness of the lawsuit?
After-all, he denied it happened, so why should he appear?

I found a link from a link to a podcast explaining how Donald J. Trump's lawyer who filed an early motion for mistrial that was denied by the court.

@jac The Diaries are amazing reading, and portray the 17th Century London of Plague Fire of Shakespeare and the Royal Society PLUS the accepted practices of the time. The use of women by the powerful was an everyday thing, and remains so now. One famous scene has his wife about to poke out his eyes with a red-hot poker. Pepys reveals everything, even resorting to French within the cypher to hide his misdeeds. Famous people, famous events, great candidity, greatly revealing. And so to bed! His bladder stone operation is very eye-opening and an amazing survival for those days.
Those representing Trump don't want him there because they know he won't be able to stop from running his mouth.

The Judge has already berated Trumps lawyers for Trumps remarks on media outlets
" not my type" means.... their referring to their personal preference and is by NO means, an indication of anything other then been heard.
Good, we can move forward now that BOTH of you will be ignoring each other.
laugh
George Conway comments on Trump's lawyer's behavior.

Someone commented George looks really good in that photo, like he lost weight.
Yeah, one reply said he did lose about 110 pounds!

laugh
I'm not sure why you are referring as if there is two trouble makers here snooty

Earlier comments made, prove there is but only one scold

Nevertheless I can still forward on knowing the woman that was always obsessed with me...
still is.

What else to say, but I'm good like that very happy
A person who isn't streetwise will be mugged more often which is not the same as being responsible for your own mugging. The thief is responsible for the theft, it's just not streetwise to walk the streets alone at night waving a fist full of notes. It's just not streetwise to do this and then believe a fascist government can save you from you're lack of being streetwise.
Can Jessica Leeds sue Trump in her own right if she has been a witness in this case?
How many Republicans are sitting on this jury?
Mercedes, I wasn't able to find that information.
"The nine jurors (six men and three women) presiding over the case were chosen out of 100, and are set to be kept publicly anonymous throughout the trial."
blushing blushing sorry its because its so late handshake jac
sorry lou lou
