What Will This Summer Bring?

Last summer was a parade of my cats bringing home dead animals. Birds, mice, shews, rats, anything they can catch. Hell last year the cat brought in a live bird that went to wing in the room and shit on my fking desk uh oh

Greybeard is already out on the prowl so any day it will start roll eyes

I have 3 cats. Two males and female. Female never hunts only males. I suggest you keep female cats only …lol…
I don't mind walking out the door to a dead critter. I object to walking out and almost stepping on its guts or half eaten parts. My cats all hunt, but mostly the females. They bring things to their kittens. No kittens? I get it. Yuck. Thanks for saving half for me!sigh
Close to 20 years ago I was in my bedroom one night with my gf, we were just winding down from the night and getting ready to go to bed. I had the window open and while we were back on, I heard the cat come in, nothing strange. I turned around and the cat was back on to me and had something it was chewing on. I went in to look and it was a baby rabbit with the side tore out of it, I said DON"T LOOK, but I was a second too late, she looked, then she cried and cried and cried and cried. She never looked at that cat the same after uh oh
40, nay 50 years ago i had a long-haired smoke. One day she came running up the hallway purring, and seemingly grinning, Cheshire-cattishly. Barefoot as I was (so it was probably summer, no way I'd be barefoot in a Christchurch winter) I felt something wet underfoot. It was a tiny heart, and the cat was mightily pleased with herself. Never forgotten!
Back here in Sydney I occasionally come across the guts of a poor eviscerated possum, just as Orz mentioned. Nothing cute about cats.
@OP (don't often get the chance to use the word 'eviscerated' - probably the first time for me this millennium) Had to check millennium spelling too!
Hi Track,

Just rescued a Turkish angora cat who was abandoned for years and lived under a shed. Her only way of survival was living off whatever she caught so she became a prolific hunter. I'm told she became pregnant and raised a family too. She's 15 now and an indoor cat but still hates being handled and is still very nervous of humans.

After 3 months Lily is playing with toys and walks around in front of me but darts for safety if I move. It's a built in instinct for cats to be predators and yes they do cause some damage to the environment but they too are prey out in the wild. It's called nature for a reason.

The first image is Lily when rescued and the second is now. Such a difference.

"Worldwide, domestic cats have been implicated in the extinction of at least 2 reptile species, 21 mammal species and 40 bird species—ie 26% of all known contemporary extinctions in these species groups. Currently, domestic cats are posing a threat to a minimum of 367 species which are at risk of extinction. In a global ranking of alien species threatening the greatest numbers of vertebrates, domestic cats occupy the 3rd position."

What animals 'prey' on cats in the UK?

I prefer birds to cats so 20 years ago I planted various flowering, berry bushes and a couple of fruit bushes in my gardens front and back. They are home to blackbirds, mistle trushes, finches, robins, wrens, wood pigeons and more that I can't identify. I have cordoned off the back garden as best I could but sometimes cats still get in, the front is open. The cats are all domestic pets which get well fed at home so hunting birds is just sport for them, and apparently entertainment for their owners, but that’s life, who's to judge, I'm just letting you know some information that you may choose to take on board.
Three cats, 2 male and one princess. All big hunters but they give me their presents live. I've found them on various o ccassions sat on my bed, running across the radiators, curtain rails and one time sat on the sofa and it climbed onto my shoulder. Then I spend hours getting them out the door, but they love icing sugar which seems to send them asleep so i can just put them outside.
Hey Track,

I hope all is well with you there.
I like cats but I can't have them around, have some sort of allergies.
