Thinking

The oil crisis began on Wednesday October 17,1973. I graduated High School Friday June 8th 1972. Riverview High School, Finley Washington. I went to work as a part time logger in the Willamette Valley, Eugene Oregon. The part time was not by choice. Logging is very seasonal, and is at the benevolence of, climate, politics, fuel shortages, public opinion, economy. The job was by choice. I was hoping for something more permanent. In the late spring, and early summer of 1978 there had been local fuel shortages, and hot weather. Not global warming. In the seventies it was global cooling. “Refers to a conjecture during the 1970s of imminent cooling of the Earth's surface and atmosphere along with a posited commencement of glaciations. This hypothesis was due to press reports following a better understanding of ice age cycles and a slight downward trend of temperatures from the 1940s to the early 1970s.” Don’t believe me, read Newsweek April, 1975. Time Magazine, and many other media sources, also had articles in the mid seventies. I learned how to drive a log truck in the fall, and winter of 1977, 1978. I was laid off for spring thaw, Friday February 17th 1978. The ground had become to soft to operate heavy equipment. Went back to work on Monday June 6th 1978. Friday July 14 1978 I was being laid off again, lack of fuel, and hot weather. After six years of mostly being laid off, I decided I needed a new job. In fourteen days I would be three days on the road, and I would meet TicTac Quadroon.conversing
