Runs With Wings

In the Book of Job, God replied to Job's cries by commenting on the majesty of one of His creations, the horse.

"Hast thou given the horse strength? Hast though clothed his neck with thunder? The glory of his nostrils are terrible: he paweth the valley, and rejoiceth in his strength: he goeth on to meet the armed men. He mocketh at fear, and is not afrightened; neither turneth he back from the sword. He swalloweth the ground in fierceness and rage. He cannot stand still when the trumpets sound". Imagine standing in the presence of such majesty.

Since I was a young child and learned this passage, I have always wanted to meet *THIS* horse. One of my earliest memories is of being at the racetrack with the smell of horses, hay, feed and freshly dragged dirt on the track.I remember being transfixed watching the horses charge down the track, the roar of the crowd as they ran for home, the groans of those who lost and the cheers of those who had won. It became a spark that still flames from time to time. The flame is always an ember that has never lost its light. As a teenager, a good family friend raised Quarter Horse racehorses and myself and the family friends' son were allowed to breeze the colts for morning workouts. The sheer power, strength and something un-nameable surging underneath. They could have killed us if they so chose, yet were led with a mere string. My happiest moments were spent on those surging creatures, magical, all of it. Some of the horses went on to successful racing careers, others went on to stud and to become mothers, some went on to other careers. None have ever been forgotten.

Only a few horses have come close to the hose described in the Book of Job and they shall run always with wings. tip hat
