"decent paying factory jobs", . . confused

I haven't seen one of those, in about three or four years, . .dunno .

I thought they became Extinct, . . back in 2006, . . doh .
I think both of you guys are correct. These damn temp services
have screwed up our country. barf
I hate to tell you this, but jobs in the future will be via contracting agency and they will not permanent. On average you will switch job on a year to year basis depending on your occupation and expect to relocate where ever the job is even if it is outside the U.S.
Try the medical field instead. Severe shortage of nurses and doctors.
I almost wanted to be a doctor, but I just couldn't the blood and the fact if you do a minor mistake that could cost somebodies life. Myself I could not live myself if ever did a mistake while operating someone. Some people have guts for it I don't, but it could be a rewarding career.
The same case here in Japan. Almost all jobs are outsourced either to the trainees or Japanese descendants. In either case and that includes me even if I am neither of the two. Quality of life seems to be going down the drain. I was one of those laid off in 2009. Yet with the rate I'm earning now, I'm still trying to survive. With tens of thousands laid off here then and work was outsourced to China, no wonder China overtook Japan as the world's second largest economy. Now, if you care to teach English and want to be surrounded by beautiful girls then why not come to Japan and be an English teacher instead. Who knows we'll cross our path someday.
