Old fashioned' traditions and values

It use to be being old fashion, whan a man had date,even just for coffee he would help the lady in the car by opening the car door.Or in a Restaurant help her with her jacket. This afternoon
as we were about to leave the Restaurant,I went to help her with her spring jacket.She said she was vary capable putting on her own jacket, it was like she was embarrassed. My times has changed
So here is my question: Is being old fashion out dated and misplaced in today's culture.Or is it not appropriate for the modern era.

laugh I'm sorry to hear about that reaction of the woman!
I'm thought to be a lady in these situations, not a pseudo-emancipated female.
You are doing right, there are real women who will appreciate it :)hug
* I was taught
Good manners are never out of fashion. She was either rude or lacking in grace. You sound like a sweetie.
chococherrie, as i was growing up i was tought it was respect to open car doors, if it were raining to get the car and drive up so she would not be out in the rain
Jana28;thanks
i will never give up on being a gentleman but as time goes by ive noticed the definition of what a gentleman is changes example what i was taught was probally much differant and less gentlemanly than what you would consider it to be and its almost gone to kids now its a shame
LuckyBonnie; most of the time
@ jana it was a joke,re-read my post please
@No_Heart; noooooooo
The woman should accept with dignity and encourage the gentleman's behavior. That's part of her self respect and of her respect to the man. I disagree with the extreme feminism, that say women should behave like men. It almost killed the gentlemen's manners, that have been biuld up for centuries.
There was a time when I was growing up that guys would say, "Gee, you're smart for a girl" and thought they were complimenting me! lol I fear many women of my generation were not happy with how hard they had to fight to be taken seriously and confused men demonstrating good manners with condescension.
@ tebear..yes that what my point was manners and politeness! well if i stand at the check out queue and have a basket and the person only has one item i let them go b4 me conversing
Ok Choko, and you look like a real lady :)bouquet
Lucky: It's almost like some men say: You look great for your age! rolling on the floor laughing And they think it's a very elegant compliment laugh
Exactly! lol

Well, terbear, you certainly stimulated some conversation! lol
10k: You are so right! That's why I've heard in the US when some man wants to talk to a woman in an office, he makes sure there are other people in the room, or she could blame him of everything!
