HOw long should one date before Marriage

why are some people so afraid of committing to one person for the rest of their lives? I sure do think that you should get to know the other person and your compatibility before you get married doesn't matter how long it takes just as long as it does not take tooo long..

I think people on this site may be wary of committing to marriage because of one simple fact, they have been there and done that and have the scares to prove it,What is the saying"Once bitten,Twice, you must be joking"
I think about 20 years should be sufficient laugh
lana you sure know how to break a guys heartrolling on the floor laughing
I thought it takes 2 to date ? confused

laugh

Although I tend to agree with Lana laugh
I would strongly suggest living with the person
AT LEAST one full year and the more years the better. wine
Trust me on this, you don't truly know them until after you've lived with them. thumbs up
THEN, you can make an more educated decision as to whether a permanent arrangement/contract (i.e. marriage) is appropriate. wine
Too many people jump into marriage and then end up realizing that they made a terrible mistake. thumbs down
a couple of centuries would suffice.... there's no need for more...

I say just get married but live separately that way you enjoy seeing each other every time and when you've had enough of one another's company you just go homewine
If I was married would have no problem being commited(faithful) to my husband.FOREVER. But can't find a man that is willing to do the same. To me being commited means no sweet talking the neighbor lady or anyone else that you happen to talk to for more than 10 min.and having a internet sweetie doesn't cut it either. Married people aren't always going to get along there are going to be ups and downs. But when there is a down you don't rush out and find someone else to hit the rack with.
I knew my ex husband for a year and lived with him for 2 years before we were married.STILL DIDN'T KNOW HIM. After we got married he became this controling, degrading, bossy sorry exscuse for a person. Maybe I brought the worst out in this man. WHO KNOWS.dunno
Lana, if you are going to do that, why get married ? dunno
Marriage is a totally unnecessary union

Unless you need medical insurance and can not get it on your own

If 2 people love each other they should be together - for how long no one can say - life is never static - it is always changing - enjoy all the love you can while you can -

Legal Paperwork does not guarantee love everlasting - it comes from the heart - not a ceremony, rings, and a piece of paper
How shameful!!!

A woman who cannot get medical insurance on her own?? How dare she expect a man to help her with illness! The nerve of herscold rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing
this brings to mind a funny joke that is actually true. I was at the veterinarians office with my mother once to get my cat vaccinated. My mother is from the old country (Italy) and happens to have a thick Italian accent which make this sound funnier...

A man walks in with two very large dogs , signs in and sits down to wait. As my mother looks at him a good long time she says "you see man with da two bigga dogs?" I said "yeah ma, why?" she says " I betta you $50 he spenda more money on do dogs then on his wife. She gotta getta her own insuranza or she die!!"rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing
To answer your question... I believe depends on the two people involved.
