55 miles a gallon

Hi everyone

Does anyone remember the Honda and the Chevy Sprint of the 1986 years? The miles per gallon....55 mpg.

I had 2 Sprints, an 86 which I bought new in Massachusetts kept for 4 years. Never had one problem with it...always got the great mpg, and only traded it in for another Sprint with air conditioning. I had moved to Florida.

Had that car for another 4 years and wish I never gave it up. It was an 87 and used. It was also a great little car. Never had one problem with either car unless you consider replacing the muffler which was very inexpensive....very, very inexpensive.

With air conditioning, the milage dropped to 46 mpg or a little better depending on the driving use. The cars may not have lasted for ever as I don't see them around now. But I would buy another in a minute.

Oh yes, in 86, this car cost just under $5,000.

I don't have the mpg on Honda or the model...but I know the mpg was just under what the sprint got....there was enough discussions about it for me to remember it was almost as good.

I wish either car company would tell us why they can't build another car like those. I would like any car company to tell us why they can't build another car like those.

The best mpg any car company can offer us is 30 something mpg. Would love to learn more about what is with car manufacturers that they won't build a car like this now. Blueworld
