Look ! Up in the sky. No, on the ground.
It's great ! It's great blue ! It's a great blue heron !On the first of this month I posted
a new whopping 75 nature photo album on another site.
I posted a sunset photo from that album here
a couple of days ago
and here is another photo from that album for you to enjoy.
It is one of a great blue heron wading in a pond.
When these birds fly, it looks somewhat prehistoric.
With their 5 foot wingspan and bent shoulders,
one can imagine a pterodactyl during the Jurassic period.
Probably that's how they look to fish.
These birds can often be seen wading with their long skinny legs at the edge of lakes
staring downward in the hopes of spearing medium size
fish with their long sharp pointed beak.
After catching them, they swallow them whole and still alive.
If I were you, I wouldn't attempt to smell their breath.
Here's your picture for the day. Enjoy !

Fish are nothing more than lunch from their perspective.
And the egrets have no regrets about fishing in
the rice paddies.
