Look ! Up in the sky. No, on the ground.

It's great ! It's great blue ! It's a great blue heron ! applause
laugh

On the first of this month I posted
a new whopping 75 nature photo album on another site.

I posted a sunset photo from that album here
a couple of days ago
and here is another photo from that album for you to enjoy.
It is one of a great blue heron wading in a pond.

When these birds fly, it looks somewhat prehistoric.
With their 5 foot wingspan and bent shoulders,
one can imagine a pterodactyl during the Jurassic period.
Probably that's how they look to fish. laugh

These birds can often be seen wading with their long skinny legs at the edge of lakes
staring downward in the hopes of spearing medium size
fish with their long sharp pointed beak.
After catching them, they swallow them whole and still alive.

If I were you, I wouldn't attempt to smell their breath. laugh

Here's your picture for the day. Enjoy ! applause

One of those Gluttons ate my Goldfish!!!(Mad) Years back !!!!
They are not choosey.
Fish are nothing more than lunch from their perspective.
I'm Still Mad about it 25 years later, the thieving Gannet !!!Ha Ha Ha !!!!
Have many of them, white in color though, near my farm. They look for their food (fish) in the padi (rice fields) close to my farm. ANd they are pest to the villagers cos they step on the baby rice plants looking for food.
The white ones are likely egrets.
And the egrets have no regrets about fishing in
the rice paddies. laugh
Jim, and the sad part is the villages kill them in huge numbers...so sad.....
correction - villagers I mean
